Harry Chaffee, David Knapp, A1 Horner, Jim Henrickson, Coach N.E. Lefko. Not shown: Asst. Coach Bill Anderson. The 1974 Pfeiffer Falcon soccer team had high hopes for their season. A few injuries to key players held back the game plan, but it by no means dampened the Falcons' spirits. After coming off a rough losing streak, the Falcons, led by Coach Lefko, went on to win or tie the last five out of seven games. The team still lacked experience but good plays by many new Falcons kept Pfeiffer in the running. This was Coach Lefko’s last season and the Falcon’s best season in five years. Coach Lefko has been instrumental in keeping the soccer team going against many nationally ranked teams. Mr. Lefko hits coached here for 1 5 years. During that time, he has had three All-Americans and 12 All- South players as well as a Championship team in 1965. After trailing by two at half- time, the girls rallied and went ahead by ten, 67-57, at the finish. After winning two more games and scoring a total of 129 points as compared to 108 by their opponents, the lady Falcons suffered their first defeat at the hands of South Park of Charlotte, 67-65. With the loss of three starters at Christmas, the remainder of the season looked somewhat bleak for the Pfeiffer girls. But the ladies continued to fight with much determination and they won their next three games to give them a 7-1 record. After a disappointing loss to Catawba, Pfeiffer bounced back to beat Lenoir Rhyne, 67-56. Coach Lonnie Chandler had only five girls to make the trip that night. Of the remaining four games, Pfeiffer won two, giving them a season finish of nine wins and four losses. 220 'll'j % V. This Book, no matter how good or bad you judge it to be, is only a partial image of the 1975 school year. What is missing can only come from you, the reader. Your memories of the year will make this book come alive with the excitement and boredom, the joy and sorrow, the pride and embarrasment that we have all felt.
