I f PEGGY FURR Editor-in-chief ROBERT CARTER Business Manager THE 1952 PUBLISHED BY The Student Body of PFEIFFER JUNIOR COLLEGE Misenheimer, N. C. Pfeiffer Colley Ubrary flLEB foreword No year book can carry a full account of the joys, worries, and hundreds of little happenings that go to make up a school; however, we feel this record will forever remind us of the volumes of un- written memories which our eyes, alone, can see between the lines. What is it Tennyson said in his poem, The Brook? Men may come, and men may go, but I go on forever. This is the feeling behind fhe publication of the 1952 PaJaCa. So, as we leave Pfeiffer to enter the dark unfathomed caverns of the future, may we carry in this little book the memories of many little things. EDITOR 2 Because of your faith and loyalty, interest and ambition for each and everyone, you have become endeared to every student heart; thus, the staff of the 1952 PaJaCa finds it a pleasure to dedicate this edition to you . . . Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Wagner of Greystone Inn. 3 The 1952 PEGGY FURR ROBERT CARTER Editor-in-chief Business Manager STAFF CARL BROOKS ROBERT MYERS DELAINE MUNDAY BILL QUICK A. C. The president of the Student Council called us together in our first official meeting and the class elected Max Bogle as President. C. J. Hartsell, Jr. and Muffie Munday were elected as vice- president and secretary-treasurer respectively. Perhaps our first scare was not in the classes, but in the cry of Sophomores at the Dinner table of Air Raid . The fall and winter brought Sadie Hawkin's Day, the Harvest dance and the Christmas dance. Vacation followed but then . . . the exams! The second semester gave us quite a few re- membrances, a winning Track team and Basketball team, the courtly Washington Ball, Religious Emphasis week and Mr. McSwain's inspiring sermons, plus the May Day dance and the crowning of the May Queen. Our first year of col- lege was ended with the Farewell dance and departure of the Sopho- mores-via graduation. Upon the opening of college the following September, one hundred and six of us returned to welcome and orientate the lowly Freshmen. Our new class officers were Ray Elam, President; Larry Lowder, Vice-President; Carol Lee Caudle, Secretary-T reasurer. The new year held many sur- prises for us. Memorable events included the crowning of Betty Boone as Miss Pfeiffer College and the Homecoming Queen, Ann Ballard. These along with College Day, were three new events that were added to the Pfeiffer calen- dar and all have been determined as successful. Other thrills were the dances, Vocational Emphasis Week, and the wonderful times spent with our friends at ■ Cruises . Some happy and others sad, we gather in Henry Pfeiffer Chapel for the Baccalaureate Sermon. Then the finale-graduation. Yes, our stay at Pfeiffer is over and we must climb on. Father Time waits for no one and we see his beckon- ing finger pointed toward us. In physical being we have departed from our Alma Mater's halls but in spirit we shall always remem- ber Pfieffer's beauty and our love for her will grow over the years to follow. She has better prepared her sons and daughters of the Class of 1952 to take their places in the world and her spirit of love, friendship and the high ideals which she develops has been firm- ly implanted within our hearts, minds and souls. 8 Sophomores GEORGE WILLIAM ALLEN Prudence is the footprint of wisdom.
