Filled with mixed feelings of dread and anticipation, we took our places in the life of the campus and prepared ourselves for the experiences which were to come. First we elected our class officers with Vander Warner, president, Leslie Butler, vice- president, Martha Cox, secretary, and Max Garrison, treasurer. This was followed by classes and becoming acquainted with each other. The ever memorable events of Sadie Hawkins Day, Harvest Dance, and Christmas Dance stand out in our minds as most enjoyable occasions. We survived a week of freshman initiations, also, while some of our members were later recognized by the Phi Theta Kappa and the Order of the Sundial. With exams, basketball games-especially the Wingate game-and dances, the re- mainder of the year passed quickly. Late in May we returned home for a three months vacation. When September, 1949, came around, we returned to familiar surroundings, the largest sophomore class in the history of Pfeiffer. Freshman initiation was reduced to three days and proved quite effective. Afterward, we settled down to thebold routine of classes once more. Our oflicers were Everett Waters, president, Willie Selvey, vice-presi- dentg Catherine Downer, secretary, and Ioe Silver, treasurer. We also elected a new student body president who was Vander Warner. First semester passed quickly, with days full of activity. Thanksgiving and Christ- mas holidays, and mid-year exams brought us nearer to our goal. The Washington Ball with Martha and George started the events of our second semester, it ended with May Day, the Farewell Dance, the Baccalaureate, and Commencement. With Iune approaching once more, we left for home but not without regrets. It had been a wonderful two years we would never forget. 38 ?F2SQi35ifi:Es.QSZELILEELS.L-11226-g.r,i',a,'g:.-2g:'4uf.-yf Q-' - -4,1 , . . . . ., ,. f - - R: -ffl--'S -'-- :-x-A,-.::-.V--gf ff ' -V1 A- ' H , .
