vpnecui As I walked into the news office this morning, my boss, Ray My rick (ex ’49 Pfeiffer), editor ot the Misenheimer News and Press, greeted me with the following 7 CO O words, Your next assignment will be a complete coverage of the world, looking up and reporting on the whereabouts and positions of every member of the class of ’49.’ Now this was right down my alley. What could be more interesting than looking up and reminiscing with old class- mates ? Well, I hopped a plane, and, bless pat, if I didn’t run smack into Bob 11 Tatts first thing. He’s still flying around shooting the breeze as always. He has an acrobatic show ot his own of which he is star. You know he always was athletic and liked to show off his ability. My first stop was LaGuardia Field. As 1 stepped from the plane, whom should I see but my roommate, Edith, and her famous ball player'husband. They are on their way to England where she will sing for the King and Queen. I called a taxi and here came old 'Tinker Brinkley, our sophomore class president, sailing up to a screeching halt. On the side of his cab was written in bright red letters, If you want a safe ride, call Brinkley and Collett Cab Co I grabbed my hat and held on for dear life as we plunged through the New York traffic. ' Pinker told me gobs of good fresh off the press” gossip about some of the ’ i9ers. He said that Claude Mc- Kinney, our student council president, had just sold a famous painting of Dais) Mae to the National Art Gallery. Daisy is doing part-time modeling and part-time housekeeping for Bill, her famous foreign correspondent husband. Louise Walker is with N. B. C., writing the scripts for Ma Perkins” and John’s Other Wife”. I often wondered whose brain was behind those soap operas. By this time we had zoomed to my destination, the Waldorf Astoria, and as I stepped from the cab, I heard a familiar voice shouting, Step right this way, buy your orchids here”. I always knew Bill Latimer would make good with his flower business. Going into the hotel, I noticed someone diligently washing the plate glass window. Looking closer, I saw that he was 11 'alter Horton. Now, don’t anyone get the idea that Walter is a window-washer, because he isn’t; he’s manager of the Waldorf- Astoria and is just taking his daily exercise. As I passed the bulletin board, I noticed that Opal Craven and Bill Coble are making their debuts at Carnegie Hall, tonight. After a very entertaining evening there I retired so as to resume my journey early next morning. I left New York on the beautiful passenger ship Patterson , named in honor of the most outstanding athlete in the world. Then whom should I run into, but all the Cubans, Prank, Alicia, Racjnel, Andrea, and Henry. They are on a sight- seeing tour of the world. Who is that distinguished looking O C couple over there? Oh yes, that is Dr. and Mrs. Howard II ’hittington. Howard is now head surgeon at London Memorial Hospital tor Crippled Children. The day wore on and about 9 p. m., I heard a deep baritone voice flowing down from (lie bandstand. Vrankie's at it again. The ship landed two weeks later in an English port. As 1 walked down the gang- 30
