To Mrs. Jesse Cruse, affectionately known as Mrs. Vera , we dedicate this year’s PaJaCa. She came to Pfeiffer with our class and through these past two years has become a very close friend to all of us. By sharing our joys, sorrows, our successes, and failures, she has won a place in our hearts. By dedicating to her this yearbook, we give to her a remembrance of the class of ’48. We, the Pfeiffer student body, will always hold in our hearts the memory of Mrs. Vera .

emoncwi FABIO RIVAS Born in Chaparro, Oriente, Cuba, November 1 1, 1927. Died at Pfeiffer Junior College, Misenheimer, N. C., January 8, 1948. Buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Misenhei- mer, N. C. He sleeps beneath the shadow of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or storm, in the win- dowless palace of rest. Our friend and college mate loved us and was beloved by all. In his three years in this country he acquired a fluent use of our language and a love of the American way of life. He planned to remain in America, to become a permanent citizen. Sociable and adaptable, fond of sports and enthusiastic in college activities and spirit, he leaves a vacancy and deep regret in the hearts of all who knew him. With his mother and his sister, Alicia, we grieve for our companion. Life is ever Lord of death And Love can never lose its own.
