It is with mixed emotions that we greet the end of this, our last year at Pfeiffer. Hopefully, eagerly, we look towards the future and its promises; sorrowfully at the pas!:, rich with its me 11 ow i ng memor ies. As a final tribute and as an inspiration to the sophomores, we have compiled this book. It is our hope that we have been able to leave in this book memories that will not fade with time. May the appreciation of high ideals, faith, knowledge, and the memories we have acquired during the last two years at Pfeiffer, be symbolized in this year’s PaJaCa.

emoncwi FABIO RIVAS Born in Chaparro, Oriente, Cuba, November 1 1, 1927. Died at Pfeiffer Junior College, Misenheimer, N. C., January 8, 1948. Buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Misenhei- mer, N. C. He sleeps beneath the shadow of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or storm, in the win- dowless palace of rest. Our friend and college mate loved us and was beloved by all. In his three years in this country he acquired a fluent use of our language and a love of the American way of life. He planned to remain in America, to become a permanent citizen. Sociable and adaptable, fond of sports and enthusiastic in college activities and spirit, he leaves a vacancy and deep regret in the hearts of all who knew him. With his mother and his sister, Alicia, we grieve for our companion. Life is ever Lord of death And Love can never lose its own.
