I see in my mind s eve a hundred freshmen entering college. We were green, no doubt, but eager to learn Our Class President was Peter Suite!) Vice-President. Walter Wall: Secretary. I homas Bivens; I reasurer. Shirley Dunn anti our sponsors were Miss Sirvher and Miss Edgerton. We submitted, in tun. to the inevitable initiation the second week alter our arrival on the campus. Shy and bashful girls went about daily tasks with hair in paper curlers and without the usual bloom on their faces, while the boys were highly rouged. It almost seem.d like being at a carnival the night we wore dunce caps to dinner and tried to eat square m.als, with the excep- tion ol the dessert which was handed over to a near-by upper classman. 1 or a week we bowed when speaking to Sophomores and on request shined their shoes Initiation ended with a Sopho- more-Freshman picnic at the Mill Pond. Alter this and a series ol Prep meetings we tell that we were really a part of the college. Ours was the hrst class to enjoy the alluring atmosphere ol the remodeled Administration building which was dedicated November. 1936. I he f reshman-Sophomore picnic at Richie s l ake came as a climax to our I reshman year Another summer having past, we returned to accept a dignity we had been awaiting. I bis dignity, too. was marked by a seriousness of purpose we had not felt before. In our freshman year the excitement of college life kept us from really getting down to work for a while, but the second year we realized the importance ol our work, and the lact that we were examples for the school, inspired us to be our best—for ourselves and lor Pfeiffer. To lead us through this all-important year, we chose as our President. Harry Mint Jr.; Vice-President, E. 1 . Cline. Jr : Secretary. Doris Holler; and Treasurer. Virginia Kluttz: with Miss Spencer and Mr. Con boy as sponsors. As a group we were strengthened by class meetings, especially the one in which we chose as our motto: Climb Though The Rocks Be Rugged. We elected as Class Poet. Sue Nell Holladay; Prophet. Eva Jane I reeman; Testator. Dora Gene Martin: Historian. Bonnie Elliott: and Giftorian. James Ray Clark Wilbur Hart and Clvde Greene were the authors of th: class song. Eor our class colors we selected green and white, with the fern and the white rose as our floral emblem. In the closing months of our college life there were many events that will always be pleasantly remembered. The musical concerts, the.Glee Club trips, Sophomore Day. the Class Play, and the All-School Banquet, with their memorable moments, all will live long in our hearts. Nor could we forget class night, the Baccalaureate sermon and Commencement which although filled with joy and sadness, strangely warmed our hearts. We. the Sophomore Class, dreamed ol publishing an annual and by work and cooperation of students, faculty, and friends our dreams were realized Our stay at Pfeiffer was a guiding light that gave us courage, and made us finer men and women.
