I THE HNNTHEK f- I-if .... .......1.1- ...,.,.-4.a-.-1... Petroleum High School again had a successful athletic year. Her three basketball teams won 50 games and lost 27. Conches Ireland and Haggard can well he proud of their squads. They displayed true Petroleum fight- ing spirit. The teams were handi- capped in mid-season due to replac- ing the gymnasium floor. The first team Kept their record intact by bo- ing undefeated on the new floor. The softball teams also had a suc- cessful season, the Pinthers minning 6 out of ld, and the Bshy Panthers 4 out of 5. Losses will be heavy due to grad- uution. Ireland will lose Cochren,- Courtney, Fosnnugh, Franks, Frnu- higer, Kizer, Pearson, end Williuns. nr. Hxygcrd will bc without the sor- of Egly, Borror, Sherpe, Bl- Huffn n, Sills, Hiines, and vices ston, O'dell. Prospects for next year are, hovevor, good. Ireland will have Steiner, Smith, Brunson, Lee, and Holloway with which he will build his first team and several other boys who are showing promise.
