The purpose of the Girl Athletic Association is to provide recreation for any girl from ninth through twelfth grade. The girls earn money during the year for letters and pins. These pins and letters are given to those who have participated in G.A.A. and have not missed more than three meetings. Miss Mary Roberts is director or this club. Members play basketball, volleyball, bowl, and during the win- ter months participate in winter activities such as skat- ing and jumper-riding. Any girl who has had at least one semester of homemaking and is interested in joining the club is eligible. The F.H.A. elects a president, vice president, secre- tary, treasurer, reporter, parliamentarian, and his- torian. The advisor is usually a homemaking teacher in school. The club belongs to the state and national F.H.A. associations. The colors are red and white, the flower the American beauty rose. This year our club has had a candied-apple sale, and has given a christmas basket to a needy family. We plan to have a Valentine's dance along with other dances this spring. Before school ends this Iune an election and formal installation of officers will be held. 66

Maybe it is the sound of the seed cleaner, being cranked by some hard working freshmen, or maybe a heated debate as to whether Durhams are better than Hereiordsp or it may be pen-type barns versus stanchion-type barns. But whatever it is you can be assured there is always some activity going on in the Agriculture Room, the headquarters of the Future Farmers of America, an organization of our high school. Here, we learn the principles of today's farming, the theory of tomorrow's farming and, the principles of citizenship which are the same yesterday, today, and always. We have enjoyed group activities throughout the year, such as: our Parent-Son banquet, our pig roast, several hayrides and barn dances.
