For twelve boys, the days of high school foot- ball playing are over. These boys are Gibbs, Bom, Kauffman, Vaughan, Rought, Sikarskie, Kondziela, Dunham, Hewitt, Livingston, Griffin and Gregory. The whole team played good football this sea- son. Although they only won three out of eight games, the school can really be proud of the 1954 team. One of the biggest games of the season, with Grand Rapids' Ottawa Hills, was won by P.H.S. by a score of 26 to 14. Under the capable leadership of coach Schuster and his assistant coaches, Mr. Splan and Mr. Neveaux, the team scored at least one touchdown every game. If all of the scores were added together, they would add up to our opponent's defeating us by the narrow margin of three points. Manistee .... Traverse City Cheboygan . Canadian Soo Cadillac .... G Okhq And the Cinderella Team did it again. After a season of 9 wins and 7 losses, Petoskey then proceeded to win the District Tournaments which were comprised of four teams: Rogers City, Alpena, Catholic Central, Cheboygan, and last but not least Petoskey. P.H.S, dis- posed of Rogers City. Alpena Catholic Central eliminated Cheboygan. This left Alpena C.C. and Pt k ' ' eos ey to play for the District Cham- pionship. Although Alpena C.C. proved to be a very powerful team, the Northmen conquered them for the title. After winning the District title, Petoskey drew Mt. Pleasant to play in the hqff S Qoing Regional Tournament. Petoskey played on f . e o their best games of the season, but could not quite dump through enough baskets to down the powerful Oilers. Petoskey fans can be ver r d y pou of the way the Northmen per- formed both in team spirit and sportsmanship. We wish to acknowledge our congratulations to Coach Zographos and the team. The boys who played their last season of basketball for P.H.S. are Ron Gibbs, Tom Bought, Arnie Gregory. less Kauffman and Barry Peacock. We wish to give these boys special 1 recognition for their very fine service to the team. .'L0se s0melhlnq? H 43 i But Momelu
