And while the chimes still echoed, the Seniors of '53 became the Fresh- men of '49, The class organized the first year with the following officers: President, Otto Kalmbach: Vice-president, Karl Stone: Secre- tary-treasurer, Dick Spitler. So quickly the months sped by that before we realized it. the freshman year reached a successful close. The bells chimed forth again, calling the Sophomore Class to duty. That year Ken Clark was chosen president: Dick Sellers, Vice-president: and Bob McConnell, Secre- tary-treasurer. Once more the year closed successfully. We chose Otto Kalmbach, Dean Eaton, and Nancy Zimmennan as class offi- cers. That year was a big year, for during it we had to plan the Iunior-Senior Banquet, give the Iunior play Mother Was A Fresh- man,' 'and present the I-Hop. The theme for the big party we gave the seniors was Moon- light and Roses. Thus our junior year ended. The bells chimed out loud and clear last fall for our senior year, and with sad hearts we answered our last call to the bells of P.H.S. This year Otto Kalmbach, Dick Spitler. and Karl Stone were our officers. We attend- ed the Iunior-Senior Banquet and the I-Hop, for which we thank the Iuniors. As Seniors we gave our play, and to end our year came the Senior Trip and Graduation. The bells will never again call us, but P.H.S. will always be a beloved spot to us. On April 7, Mr. Dunlevy's Sth hour English class sponsored a Fresh- man Frolic, our only activity of the year. As sophomores we selected Harley Hankins, lim Crandall, and Carol Baker as our officers. That year we were very proud to be dubbed a mighty class, one to mark and to remember by our graduating upper-classmen. As juniors we claimed the title of the Class of '54. lim Crandall was elected president: Thelma Bachelor, vice-president: and Carol Hoch, secretary- treasurer. With these leaders we successfully completed a great year, filled with work and fun. Events to be particularly remembered were our Iunior play, A Case of Springtimef' the Iunior-Senior Banquet, where we played host and honored the departing Seniors: and our I-Hop, which beautiiully transformed the gym into a Iapanese Garden. And just think! Next year we shall be noble Seniors. As freshmen last year we started to prove this statement by electing as our leaders Iess Kauffman, president: Ron Gibbs, vice- president: and Bonnie Elliott, secretary-treasurer. The usual first year of high school was spent in starting our four-year courses and in welcoming new- comers to the class from various out-lying schools. This year we had one concession to start building our fund to pay for the I-Hop and the Iunior-Senior Banquet next year. Our officers have been Dave Sikarskie, Maxine Maclnnis, and Betty Io Keams as president, vice- president, and secretary-treasurer, respectively. It is very confusing, but it is the year that we start thinking what definite courses we will be taking for the next three years, what clubs we might belong to as upperclassmen, and the possibility of making the future varsity athletic teams. We have no class activities nor money-making projects as freshmen, but we elect officers. This year we chose Don Hufiord as president, George Robinson, vicepresident, and Ann Woodruff for secretary-treasurer. BACK ROW, Lett to Right-Everett Dielman, Carl Ernst, Ronald Fraley.
