THE PIRATEER 1985 Our Universe, Our World, Our School Our theme reflects the fact that for thir- teen years our lives have revolved around our school. It has been our own private world, the center of our own private universe. We know that we are not unique in this trait — it is a univer- sal truth with students the world over. Because our special world is small, we have learned to reach out to each other to achieve our goals. We will carry this lesson with us past our school years, to be applied as we make our way in the world. We must continue to realize that in reaching out and working together good does and will happen. It is our hope that we have demonstrated our ability to work together in our very special world. Catch A Falling Star This year we honor our principal and friend, Mr. Paul R. Dalton, who began his teaching and administrative du- ties at PHS in August 1981, when the Class of 1985 were Freshmen. During his four-year sojourn with us he has been counselor, coach and confidante; but, especially, he has been friend and supporter. Mr. Dalton retired this year after many years of dedica- tion to the teaching profession. He taught us the funda- mentals needed to be good students, but more important- ly, he instilled in us the values described by Walter D. Wintle in his poem Thinking,” with which we have chosen to close our Annual. Please read it. We will always be grateful for Mr. Dalton's efforts to make us proud of our school and ourselves.
