Double Sextet was newly formed this year. It con- sisted of 3 boys and 9 girls. They sang mostly 3 part music. The Girls’ Swing Choir was also new to P.H.S. Membership in this group was on a volunteer basis. There were 14 students, all sophomores and jun- iors. They divised their own routines and had a lot of fun while they were at it. The squad was cut to 12 players after the Elgin contest. After the opener with Spalding the pirates didn’t find their second win until the Santee warriors come to town. The third and final victory came in the 1st round of the conference tournament when the pirates met the bluejays of Spalding again. The season ended in the 1st round of the district tournament by Lindsay Holy Family. Injuries plagued the pirates and at times we were down to 9 or 10 players. The conference was tough this year with both Clearwater and Humphrey making it to the state finals as the runner-up in Class D competition. We had a lot of fight and never quit despite the lop-sided scores by some of our opponents. In the 1st game of the season I knew the pirates had a die-hard attitude in football, trailing by 34 points at halftime against Lindsay Holy Family, the second half was a stalemate. We needed to score first in a lot of games because that would have given us the confidence and momentum which we needed because of our losing streak. The happiest moment and proudest moment of the season came against Spalding in the homecom- ing battle which we won 76-12. •IrM .
