The theme is “the stream of life flows from the shade of old mem or ieS into the sunlight of new dreams.” It is our hope that the ma- terial within these pages will keep the days of the 1965-66 school year alive for all of us tomorrow, when they are “memories’ and when our “dreams” have become realities. For twelve long years we have bravely traveled through many long days of schooling to reach this crowning year of achievement in Petersburg High School. During these twelve years we have met many people, laughed at many things, learned many skills, and shed tears over sad moments. In this, our final year, we have gathered momentoes to present to you as a tribute to the accomplishments of our years on Bergdoll Hill --a glimpse of the experiences which have enriched and given depth to our lives. We hope that in the years to come, when you look again through this edition of THE PETRO-SCHOLA, old memories will come back to you and refresh your dreams of yesteryear. If a glance at these pages brings a tear to the eye or a tug at the heart, we will have attained our ultimate objective in the production of this volume— to preserve a part of our fun and fellowship at Petersburg High School in our hearts and minds forever. The members of the Class of 1966 leave Petersburg High School—some for further formal educa- tion, others into the world of the home and business—but we hope, whatever may be their place in life, the years at P. H. S. will always becherishe years at P. H. S. will always be cherished. May this record give you a clear and lasting view of our ALMA MATER as we knew it. TEKEL Without doubt, the kindness you have shown in all activities and the pleasant, ef- fective manner with which you teach have been noted by all. The personal interest and attention you have given to your students--as individuals and as groups—have also not passed unnoticed. For these things—small in themselves, yet enormous in their overall effectiveness—you are known and for them appreciated. And so, gracious lady, we have the honor to dedicate to you the 1966 edition of THE PETRO-SCHOLA. 5 (Uountu Administration Superintendent of Grant County Schools MR. Principals Message . . . It is my hope that the stream of life at Petersburg High School will, indeed, lead its classes to a river of knowledge and the ultimate attainment of the place and position they seek in life. May these years under the guidance of myself, and the other administration and faculty here help in some way to turn the tide of each student’s abilities, hopes, and plans to the highest ebb of service for the good of themselves and all mankind. Many trials and tribulations were faced in collecting, editing, writing, and re- writing the material until it reached the final point (and was labeled for publication with the necessary A.S.II ); yet with all of these burdens came hours of pleasure, profit, and gay as- sociations which will long be remembered. Perhaps you do not know that the price you pay for each yearbook is only about two-thirds of the actual cost of that book. Each year the PETRO-SCHOLA Staff faces the problem of raising enough funds to make up that difference between the cost and the selling price. Each year members of the staff contact most of the businesses in this area. Most of the busi- nessmen take time to talk with these students and to buy an ad in the yearbook. We wish to thank the business people who constitute our financial sponsors for this year. With- out them, there would have been no 1966 PETRO-SCHOLA. To show them that we appreciate their backing our school and our yearbook, let’s back their businesses! The 1966 PETRO-SCHOLA Staff ponsorrri flagre - 39r. Bou Barman Br. Jiofoard 2 . Jfflaxforll Br.
