VIKING BAND GAINS STRENGTH Dashing and Distinctive these two words seem to describe the Viking Band better than any Mr, Webster has to offer. During last summer some band boosters had a vision of seeing the PHS band outfitted in new uniforms. A great deal of progress had been made by the band during its one year of being reorganized and these boosters wanted this progress to continue. A few parents started the ball rolling and soon the entire community was involved in raising money to purchase new uniforms for the entire band. The first project was a food stand at the Tri- County Fair, and this was followed by dinners, raffles, selling projects and individual donations. Finally enough money was raised and the Band Boosters met with the uniform company representa- tive and designed the uniform. A total of fifty band uniforms, eight majorette uniforms, and one con- ductor's uniform was purchased. BELOW: The Viking Band at the Poultry Festival.
