The Origin of WPHS WPHS-TVl 0 was first organized as a cooperative effort between the jour- nalism and mass media classes. The inability to coordinate these classes led to the replacement of the journalism classes by the creative writing students as script writers. Presently the creative writing students handle the entire pro- duction. The purpose of the station are as follows: 1. To keep the student body informed of the happenings” around the school. 2. To provide opportunity for students to voice their opinions. 3. To bring community resources to the students so that they may become aware of benefits provided by the community. 4. To provide exposure for talent throughout the school. 5. To provide practical experience in all aspects of television pro- duction. I 18

U. S. Armed Forces Representatives from various branches of the Armed Services came to talk with the students. They offered inter- esting advice on making the service a career. Young women are now, too, an integral part of the Armed Forces as evidenced by the presence of many females at this exhibition. 20
