29 Ufa I m% The mathematics department offers a variety of courses in the noncol- legiate program as well as the college-bound area. In the business area, the student ends with an up-to-date program in business mathematics with possible electives in the data-processing program of the technical section. A new college bound program was begun two years ago at Peabody High School with a year of general mathematics and Algebra I being the credits. Plane Geometry is begun in the junior year rather than the sophomore year. The first students in this program are taking Plane Geomentry this year, and the entire program will be evaluated at the end of this school year. More students are electing the senior mathematics courses in Trigonometry, Advanced Algebra, and Analytic Geometry. One need that should be satisfied for all graduating seniors is a course in Consumer Mathematics. This course is under study by the department as well as one in Probability and Statistics.
