TrgCMK]®i© §Y m [lR ®BTrAMTr ®P [Li ' Vig 25 The Industrial Arts staff at Petersburg High School believes that Indus- trial Arts is a cultural experience dealing with a comprehensive and in depth study of one of the most dominant forces in our contemporary society — Technology. Many of the content items for industrial arts have persisted throughout the history of mankind as a matter of vital impor- tance and primary cultural forces in the evolving societies. Based upon these essential prerequisites Industrial Arts in this plan is perceived as a curriculum area that focuses on those phases of career education which deal with industry — its organization materials, occupa- tions, processes and products. In each class a particular industry is studied such as transportation, wood, aluminum, steel, or plastic to pro- vide as a basis for construction of projects that are developed in the laboratory. In addition, the students established line and staff personnel plans which are implemented to provide a wider interpretation of the or- ganization, procedures, problems, and contributions of industry. This role-playing activity enlarges the realm of student participation in keep - ing with his interests, aspirations and capabilities. It also develops con- cepts related to the organization of industry, productivity, occupational opportunities, automation labor-management relations, financial struc- ture and the changing role of the individual in industry.
