Math Keeps With Changing World It has been predicted that in ten years our math system will be revolutionized! From the study of simple addition to the most involved theories of calculus, the math department under the leader- ship of Mr. Burton Alexander endeavors to provide the student with confidence in his ability. This year there is a staff of math teachers especially trained to show and teach math for those enrolled in the business course. As today ' s modern world is rapidly increasing in complexity, the program is offered to compete with the progression. Mr. Alexander stresses the importance of trigonometry to his students. English Adds Cul ture To Curriculum Encountering poetry and deep liter- ary works such as Chaucer ' s Canterbury Tales and Hawthorne ' s The Scarlet Letter, the students develop the ability to interpret underlying meanings conveyed by such tech- niques as symbolism and irony. The English department, headed by Miss Elizabeth Lanier, has added a journalism class to train students to develop skills in journalistic writing and intelligent reading. All English teachers work toward the common goal of developing skills in what is probably the most important subject outside the classroom. Miss Lanier chuckles at a student ' s reply. Mrs. S.
