The Semor Class pre sented the1r annual play on November 30th and December lst The play centers around Susan Blake a career g1rl and the troubles wh1ch Johnny Clover and Spud Erw1n two pals get 1nto over the Penqu1n the lugh school paper Susan Blake was played by IRENE WASVICK she 1S a dynarruc young h1gh school student w1th amb1t1ons toward be1ng a newspaper woman She 15 always gett1ng 1nto trouble Johnny Clover pprtrayed by JIM WHEELER 1S a typ1cal teen age boy seventeen years old mntent and eas1ly upset H1s parents are often a lot of trouble to h1m w1th the1r old 1d6aS Spud Erwln starred by DICK STEDMAN takes everyth1ng 1n h1s str1de He 1S the l1v1ng example of God's g1ft to women Noth1ng d1sappo1nts or d1scourages h1m Betsy Erw1n played by BEULAH REID 15 Spud's younger s1ster a bubbl1ng talkat1ve type of g1rl who knows all the goss1p and makes herself a part of every s1tuat1on Lucybelle Lee portrayed by LYNNE O'HARE IS a typ1cal southern belle She 1S the product of southern educat1on Preston Hughes acted by RONNIE SARFF 15 a school athlete and capta1n of the football team He 1S good look1ng but a tr1fle dumb Be cause h1s fam1ly has money he cons1ders h1mself a cut above the rest Mrs Clover was played by VIRGINIA COOKE She 15 a br1sk com petent woman 1n her fort1es She regards the whole world and her fam1ly w1th secret amusement Mr Clover was played by ROY TORWICK Johnny's father He IS a gentle absent rrunded man and the owner of a prosperous book store Martha Wlllard played by MARY ANN MILLER IS a cr1sp, humorous young woman. She has been on a newspaper staff, but is now teaching journalism.
