Petersburg Press Dear Edltor Once aga1n the Class of '52 1S together th1s t1me at the1r tenth annual 1'eun1on at PHS We have come from all paris of the world to attend th1s blg occas1on Some of us have achmeved our l1fe long amb1t1ons to become celebr1t1es JIM WHEELER a noted archeolog1st has Just returned from the jungles near the Equator after a search for the rare bones of the Hot Dog RONALD SARFF looklng very d1gn1f1ed 1n h1S new moustache 1S now 111 the used car parts bus1ness and r1des to work every day on a b1CYC1E they say bus1 ness 15 the best teacher Our f1ne d1nner has Just been 1nterrupted by a phone call for ROBERT LLOYD He 1S now beam1ng and Jub1lant because h1s parents have just glven h1m perm1ss1on to paddle down the Amazon on a log raft He always was the Tom Sawyer type an adventuresome lad LYNN O'HARE who 1S now a Skl 1nstructor 1n the Alps 15 so used to the snow that she came to the reun1on w1th a pa1r of sk1 boots on NORMAN OTNESS and IVAR HESTAD went to the floor w1th a crash the result of an heated argument as to wh1ch had caught the b1gge st m1n.nowdur1ng the last now a profess1onal referee and 1S good at fast dec1s1ons D1ck f1nally became t1red of h1s own arguments and made a career of l1sten1ng to other people JIM RHODES has g1ven a speech about h1S adventures 1n Spa1n as a matador and says he l1keS the country of WIDE women and song Just f1ne He always was one to peddle the bull and 1S do1ng very well for h1mself Two of our classmates are even go1ng to the Wh1te House ROY TORWICK and ELIAS REYES have just rece1ved the1r contract to bu1ld the new b1rd house on the Wh1te House lawn I always knew those two arch1tects would reach the top One of our classmates IS now on the screen IRENE WAS VICK IS lead1ng lady 1n the new travelogue and mov1ng p1cture Tour1ng the U S 1n a Bu1ck And now Just as the reumon 15 near1ng an end BEULAH REID VIRGINIA COOKE and LEE BENNETT come stornung 1nto the hall all out of breath It seems that BEULAH and LEE who are both av1d deer hunters became lost 1n the woods and found the1r way back to c1v111zat1on only when they heard the blare of VIRGINIA's automob1le horn on the road VIRGINIA's car had stopped and she was honlung for a1d All three ran back 1nto town so they would not Irnss the most exc1t1ng event of the year the reumon of the Class of '52 As for myself I have never left Petersburg and have just been accorded the honor of be1ng Mother of the Year By the way I have mne adorable ch1ldren MARY ANN MILLER fishing season. The Semor Class pre sented the1r annual play on November 30th and December lst The play centers around Susan Blake a career g1rl and the troubles wh1ch Johnny Clover and Spud Erw1n two pals get 1nto over the Penqu1n the lugh school paper Susan Blake was played by IRENE WASVICK she 1S a dynarruc young h1gh school student w1th amb1t1ons toward be1ng a newspaper woman She 15 always gett1ng 1nto trouble Johnny Clover pprtrayed by JIM WHEELER 1S a typ1cal teen age boy seventeen years old mntent and eas1ly upset H1s parents are often a lot of trouble to h1m w1th the1r old 1d6aS Spud Erwln starred by DICK STEDMAN takes everyth1ng 1n h1s str1de He 1S the l1v1ng example of God's g1ft to women Noth1ng d1sappo1nts or d1scourages h1m Betsy Erw1n played by BEULAH REID 15 Spud's younger s1ster a bubbl1ng talkat1ve type of g1rl who knows all the goss1p and makes herself a part of every s1tuat1on Lucybelle Lee portrayed by LYNNE O'HARE IS a typ1cal southern belle She 1S the product of southern educat1on Preston Hughes acted by RONNIE SARFF 15 a school athlete and capta1n of the football team He 1S good look1ng but a tr1fle dumb Be cause h1s fam1ly has money he cons1ders h1mself a cut above the rest Mrs Clover was played by VIRGINIA COOKE She 15 a br1sk com petent woman 1n her fort1es She regards the whole world and her fam1ly w1th secret amusement Mr Clover was played by ROY TORWICK Johnny's father He IS a gentle absent rrunded man and the owner of a prosperous book store Martha Wlllard played by MARY ANN MILLER IS a cr1sp, humorous young woman. She has been on a newspaper staff, but is now teaching journalism.
