'THE B YEARS IEEE EUR LIMS CLASS Scene I In the fall of the year 1950 fifty-one freshmen assembled m the sclence room With Mr Beck as our adviser we began The Best Years Of Our Lxves Among the first duties was electmg Arthur ansma Presxdent Dlck Jones Vlce Presxdent Geraldine Clark as Secretary and Ruta Kopp as Treasurer Red and gold were chosen as the class colors and the red rose as our class flower The student of today IS the leader of tomorrow was selected for our class motto Money for the treasury was needed so the com mon plea of Wont you please buy a penc1l was heard through the halls Basketball pms of the school colors were purchased and sold Each of the 'Stars to be also pald class dues lmtl anon week soon followed and what merry makmg there was Remember those mean Semors and how everyone made fun of us? We all looked like escapees from a freak show but at the end of the week we dressed like normal people agam and attended the Semor Frosh Dance Thus eventful year was closed by havmg a class party at the school Scene II We re Sophomores and now we can jom the others m teasmg the Freshmen Mr Beck remamed our class advlser And the class offxcers chosen to handle the lmportant dutles were President jerry Rasel Vnce Presxdent jlm Foraker Secretary, Barbara Chapman Treasurer Helen Reynolds Everyone took a turn nn selhng xce cream at noon and after school and candy at the basketball games A dance was held after one of the basketball games and ln the sprmg we sponsored a square dance Remember all the brunses that were acquired along wnth all the fun at our two skating parties? In June of this year a class party at 'Vhneral Beach brought the curtaln down once more umors' We can hardly belxeve II but IIS our thxrd year 'Ur Beck agam IS our advxser and the result of our election of officers nas George Schmmeler Presldent jill Dangerfield Vice Presx dent Joyce 'VIcConnell Secretary Jnm Foraker Treasurer Ill Till! Thus bemg our most expenslve year, we had to work hard to get enough money for our treasury We used our power as salesmen agam and began takmg orders for Christmas cards Everyone swung thexr partners at the Harvest Square Dance whxch was held previous to Thanksglvmg vacatlon Durmg basketball season, we sponsored an after game dance whnch helped us along the financial road a llttle further And what Chrlstmas presents we got thns year' Each one recexved hls class rmg and some traded their rmgs for others Aprxl I7 was the date chosen for the presentatlon of Good Night Ladles and rf you ll pardon our saymg It proved to be very successful The Prom the happxest event of the year was held at the South I-Ixlls Country Club May 1 It w as the first prom held there and everyone enjoyed the new atmosphere and the musxc of Baron Elllotx and his orchestra The banquet took place two weeks later at the grade school cafe erxa We ended the year with swnmmlng eatmg and havmg loads of fun at Mineral Beach 1953 1954, our last year of hlgh school MJ rlght dlrectxon wlth Mr Beck as advlser and Ron ald Rnchards as Presndent jxm Foraker as Vlce Presldent Rxta Kopp servmg as Secretary and Wllllam hllnms as Treasurer 1 ho was later re placed by Audrey Pahamsh Keeping ln mxnd our motto as Freshmen just walt untll we are Semors we conducted Imtlatlon Week 11 1th much vxgor At the end of the week we sponsored the Semor Frosh Dance Another fall actlvxty was our three act comedy Love Your Nlexghbor After the play lmmedlate work was begun on the 1954 EMBER wlth the determma t1on to make It the best we could Wlth work must come play and a skatmg party and a sprmg square dance were a few of the dxversxons Our last prom took place Apnl 23 at the South Hllls Country Club May 23 marked the date of Baccalaureate and on May 28 we walked down the alsle to recexve our diplomas 1 ' ra .
