EXTR- 5 FRESH The class of '57, being the largest ever to attend Peters Township High, was also the first class in the history of the school to be divided into two sections. In spite of the division the class has worked well together in the sale of beanies, sweatshirts, and pencils with the basketball schedule printed on them. Also on February 5th the class held a highly successful after-game dance following the contest with Hickory. During initiation week the Freshies proved their good sportsmanship as they accepted most of the jokes with a smile and forgave all seniors later. Altogether the class has proven itself worthy of its sponsors, Bliss lWiles and Miss Wolfe, and it is hoped that it will go into still greater things next year. This is Aunt Flora He faints very easily. Welll and Aunt Barbara ,fi S2 iff Oh-h-h. What big feet you've got. You're not Aunt Barbara! Good Night Ladies, a three act farce, was presented by our class on April 17, 1953 under the direc- tion of Mr. Lee Beck and student- director, Madeline Osterman. Helen, Jane, and Sam Raleigh inherited the old house near the campus of Grayson College. They were on the point of losing the home when they received per- mission to use it as a dormitory if their Aunts, Flora and Barbara, would come and act as matrons. The aunts were delayed and thc Dean starts sending the girls, who have arrived, to another home. Sam and Jug, Jane's boy friend, decide to disguise themselves and take the role of the Aunts. Professor Dexter, an old sweet- heart of Aunt Flora's, is not fooled by the act but keeps it a secret. He was named head of the college by the board and just in time, for the Dean learns the secret and threatens to expel all concerned, when the professor steps in. The Raleighs are allowed to keep the dormitory even though the aunts were delayed a few days. The play made a hit with all who saw it. wake him with this cold water. a n .321 'iflieriw l 5 Aunt Barbara, you've lost your skirt!! Hurry you two and get out. N EIGHQIXZPJ h A large receptive audi- ence sat out in front of the footlights on Novem- her 6, 1953 as the Senior class presented its three act play, Love Your Neighbor in the audi- torium. This hilarious comedy, written by Albert John- son, iniluded a cast of twenty students and was directed by Klr. Lee Beck. ln the play Oswald Fredrick, an upper class city boy, was engaged to Tessie Vashki, a small town girl but the situa- tion was complicated by an ex-marine Johnny Jones who had his eye on Tessie and Tessie's young- er sister Dora who was de- termined to catch Ozzie. In the delightful atmosphere of the South Hills Country Club, the juniors and Seniors, the faculty, and friends spent an evening full of happy mem- ories dancing to the music of Baron Elliot and his orchestra. The coronation ceremonies were performed by our class president, George Schmieler. .loan Long reigned as the lovely queen and Denny Aston as the king. Phyllis Gall and Joanne Fife served as attendants to the queen, The crowns for the ceremony were carried by Susie Long and Allan Matthews. A night to remember! Two weekslater the banquet was held at the grade school building. James Foraker acted as the toastmaster and a very impressive talk was given by Reverend Eugene Slep of Greensburg. Our class was the first to break tradition by having the banquet here. Ir proved quite satisfactory and enjoyable to all. if Our Majestys' Court Seated DARLA CARROLL JOYCE MCCONNELL SALLY KILMER Standmg JERRY RASEL JANEPATSLH AINITA GRUBBS SLE SKINNER 1-t O5UOm Quill and Scroll rs the Internatxonal Honor Socxety for Hrgh School journahsts 'Xwards are glven every year to the Journahsts u ho hare contrxbuted some outstand mg wrmngs m the field of journallsm The Shawnee staff Ot 1932 53 under the SUDCYVISIOII of Ulss Baxrd pubhshed l'he Warrior the Hrst student handbook of Peters Townshlp Hlgh School The title of the handbook was chosen by the Shawnee staff The purpose of thls handbook IS to better acqualnt the students entermg hwh schoo with the rules and regulations of the school The hugh school paper Shan nee IS publxshed by the Journahsm class The paper thus year consxsts of specxal IDICTVICWS neu columns a very complete sports page WVlfll the drawings of the staff holdmg the attentlon of the students The journalxsm class ruth the help of thelr advlser 'Nlxss Balrd made lmoleum blocks this year and were very successful Decreasmg the S176 of the paper ss as a neu economy measure of the Shawnee staff '-S I nrst Row Cleft to rzghtj VERA TOTH CEd1torJ BEVERLY HOWARD CGrade School hdntorj AUM KLPsTAs Second Row Cleft to rzghtj JFRRY RASEL CSen1or Advnserl ROBERT KUEIN BFVFRLY SCHLLTZ Lors HExK 'VIARLExE FIFE 'lhlrd Ron Cleft to rzghtj 'NI1ss BXIRD CAdv1serD JOE NIACIK NANCY 'NIALSER NIARY Axx LEECH E1LEEx STEWART jo-nsvE DEVEY SHERYL PHILIPa F1-roxms NIIKEC Fourth Rou Cleft to rrghtj TIELXINT OSTERNIAN FRED CLSHFY ALBERT IXERN HAROLD IXEYSER WAYNE HOLSTON NVILLIAM SELESKI CLALDIA 'NIOORE jor JACKOVIC HELEN PATTERSONT 7 I I . i 4 N f v X X P l , L .
