Infinity - a word to express a feeling when dictionaries fail A cover - up, an ego - booster, to make us Feel proud to express a thought no one can quarrel with For who can quarrel with infinity ? I cannot - yet I know I can reach out and touch And take to my soul a fragment of infinity For it is youg it is your smile, your brown eyes depthless That tiny cleft in your chin - That give me the power to reach out And your love That gives me the power to grasp. And then we meet And we share infinity For you, too, have marvellously grasped this fragment. We see the sunlight on the snow The heavens aflame at sunset, the blazing glow in your And the deep purple of tender after- love. Tiny homes dotting the valleys Smoke curling lazily from the rooftops A world of our own, from which We see the other world and its people Playing their own little parts, like dolls, Never guessing 1-low pitifully funny they look. Yet in our world, I can be me, you can be you, I awaken, and think wonderingly, he loves me . And Nature, all wise, laughs and nods And I know that although hell may lurk in the day My fragment of infinity is locked within me.
