MISS ELLIN TRUEBLOOD PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE E WAS a friend to man, and lived in a house by the side of the road -so wrote the blind bard of Greece, centuries ago, and from this Well known line, I draw my message to you for the year. It is a plea for simple friendliness. If you should learn perfectly all the facts of all the books in school and should leave unlearned the altogether important lessons of getting on with people-then, indeed, your education would be in vain. A friendly attitude, forbearance, and a kindly spirit is to be more desired than great richesg a tolerant, considerate understanding of the other felloW's rights and feelings is wisdom itself. Truly, the way to have a friend is to be one. Edu' cation is a failure unless it develops the capacity for friendship and the art of getting along with people. Life is a barren waste without friends.
