Mr. Delph carries out the poli- cies of the school board, supports school pro- tects, and supervises other phases of PHS's curricular and extra-curricular activities. Whether he is giving the morning announce- ments, encouraging the ball teams at pep ses- sions, or arranging auditoriums, Mr. Delph is always interested in every student. Because of Mr. Delphs encouragement, many students have been persuaded to remain in school. Smith, I. Hurt. Tiger Band Revives Three-Way Festival The Marching Tiger Band and their shows are one of the tlirills at both football and basketball games. The band performed for prefgotme and lialf-time shows, traveling to Hart- ford City to present a lialfftime performance there. Some of the shows included Hits from Broadway, Dixieland, and Black Magicj' the Senior show. The Concert and Varsity Band presented the Christmas and Spring Concerts and were hosts to Kokomo and Marion at the Three-Way Music Festival, which was revived this year. Nelp E. Adams Tri-M Promotes High Levels In Music f l' ll ilu' it 'I I tl it The purposes of Tri-M, or Modern Music Masters, are to create and maintain high standards of music. Students must pass the Tri-M test by learning the constitution, song, names of local officers, location of the main offices, and chapter number. The club organizes an annual induction ceremony and a spring banquet, and meets on call. Officers this year are Tim Noble, president, Buth Baber, vice- president, Carolyn Ebert, secretary, Sam Goodwin, treasurer, and Sandra English, historian. Swing Choir performed at home and exchange concerts and at many other seasonal and social events, the girls in identical dresses and the boys in similar suits. The members create steps and dance routines to accompany their songs. Tigerettes and Majorettes perform at half-time shows for games. They consist of l4 girls who work industriously sewing outfits and matching steps with themes cf their songs. Bob was selected tor both the All- Conterence and All-State teams. Senior Bill Abbey, Tiger stalwart who played at end, was also selected for All-State and All-Conference honors. Rick Mooney, a junior tackle, was also selected tor the All-Conference first team. Other players earning All-Conference honors Were Herman Butzin, a senior guard who made the third team, lerry Bradley, a senior quarterback, Frank An- derson, senior tackle, and lim Baber, junior guard. The Tigers played sev- eral teams of state-wide ranking and more than held their own against them. The high- light of the season was the Bengals upset of mi :h1y lndianapolis Tech, the largest school in the state, riinlced ninth at the time The Tigers riiiit a successful end to the season by winning the Sectional with Comparative ease. ln the first game the Tigers rolled over highly- regarded North Caston and then soundly beat neighboring North Miami. In the champion- ship game the Bengals faced Clay, the team that had beaten them in the final Sectional game in V362 This time things were differ- ent, however, as the Tigers beat the Indians, 73-53. Because of the distance' and expense in- volved in traveling to meets, wrestling, which has always been a winter sport at pl-iS, was dropped this year. instead, a iveight-lifting program was instituted so that more boys would have the opportunity to keep in shape all vear long. Held three days a week throughout the winter at the lunior High School, the program involved chiefly underclassinen who wanted to keep in shape for football, Mr. Robert Larson, who directed the program, supervised the boys in various beneficial exercises.
