I guess everybody has heard of the man pictured above He s Coach Tony Papero, the man responsible for our school s success in athletics for the past ten years A graduate of Ithaca College, Coach came to Peru in 1942 and taught for 1 5 years until he entered our country's service in the uniform of the United States Navy There he served as athle tic director Upon his discharge in 1945, Coach attended New York University for a year after which he re tumed to Peru and resumed his coaching duties Since that time our school has improved in a sports Under his guidance Peru Central has become a power to be reckoned with in Class 'A basketball and baseball Coach s soccer teams have been C C I L champions for the last eight years, and, m that time, have compiled a record of 69 wins and only 6 losses In addition to being an outstanding coach in the North Country, Mr Papero IS also a family man He has two children, Danny and Jamie, and a charming and well liked wife Coach is an active member of the Pem L1on's Club and is an officer rn many athletic organizations through out the North Country The Senior Class wishes to express its appreciation to Mr, Papero for the hard work he has done for the school and for our teams, and we wish him success in future years at Peru Central School,
