We Expressed Ourselves Through Music And Art We wanted to tell the world we were here. We yearned for a way to make our presence felt. We wanted to express ourselves as individuals. The popularity of art and music classes reflected this desire. Art classes offered us the opportunity to express ourselves using various media and to explore the possibility of chosing art as a profession. Our musical talents were tested by performing with the mixed chorus, band and orchestra. Iggy takes his music very seriously. Wm. al . .... . Communicated With Each Gther Em, Kevin and Demitrius doing their own thing. We had to take English every year, and at times it seemed more than we could handle. We soon learned that English would be helpful in our lives and could even be pleasurable. English classes sharpened our communication skills. We would use these skills to express the thoughts and emotions within ourselves. English even became fun when we got involved in drama, creative writing and other media. Those of us who needed more specialized help in English found it in bilingual and ESL classes. We spent much time trying to get into or out of certain classes. Our guidance counselors were not always able to do what we wanted, but they tried to help us with our schedules, with our personal problems and, assisted by the Career Resource Center, with our college and career choices. Our experiences in guidance taught us an important lesson about life. Since our schedules, college profiles and report cards were all computerized , we soon learned that most of the things that went wrong were the computer's fault! ln'- ' i sir-1 2 4 m.i512tg5Qagtfgf4,,,tg352z:g,f W nuns V5 , r ' g ,V -I, A A ' .z 4 I' 'rl A .1 fs- Tm Rolando, Candy and George prepare to beat down Mr. Manascalcds door to get an interview.
