THE SENIOR CLASS OF PERTH AMBOY HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS REFLECTIONS VOLUME 1 1978 IN THE TRADITION OF “HALLS OF IVY” RETIRING . .. For many years Mrs. Driscoll has served as an inspiration to all Perth Amboy High School students. Her departure from the school system will be deeply felt by the stu- dents and faculty. As we look back upon our high school days, we will remember how Mrs. Joan Gadek and Mr. Michael Vicario became our friends. When you and I walked into the high school four years ago, Mrs. Gadek and Mr. Vicario offered us their hand in friendship. They guided us until we were able to follow our own judgment These two friends were the ones who always worked overtime to make sure that they had done everything to our satisfaction. We are now approaching the end of our senior year and Mrs. Gadek and Mr. Vicario are still beside us. With this we say, “Thank you, Mrs. Gadek and Mr. Vicario, for the example you set for us and for the assis- tance and inspiration you gave us.” Mr. Michael Vicario Mrs. Joan Gadek 5 Qivero belong wUere they can ramble €agleo belong wltere they can jly Jesse Acevedo Angel Acosta Michael Adamshick “Is that lunch I smell? What that crawling on my food?1 A freshman approaches the tree of knowledge. On Freshman Orientation Day we saw a “collage” of new freshman faces in our school. After eight years of progressing and finally reaching the top in grade school, the new faces at Perth Amboy High seemed lost and apprehensive. However, as pictured here, we notice that the Fresh- men soon became acquainted with other students, the school, and its ways. They now feel at home and ready to face the coming years. 65 Sophomores Adolphus and Kevin do “home” work Knowledge is funneled into Joe’s head Sophomore year is the year of deciding our goals in life. Sophomores are faced with more commitments and responsibilities than in previous years. Many Sophomores feel that this is the hardest year because of the maturing pro- cess involved. The dances are on Friday nights and feature local bands and D. J.s. Besides providing entertainment, these dances give amateur musicians from our area the chance to per- form before a real audience. Homecoming is the annual event which features bright, beautifully decorated homecom- ing floats. This year was no exception. There was a U-autiful float with our Panther proudly dis- played and a colorful, creative float titled “Ease on Down the Road.” It was a memorable day for ail present, but also a sad day for the seniors. There were tears seen in the eyes of the seniors, because for them, it was their last home football game as students of Amboy High. 103 Johnny Guitar Watson Dancing at the COTTON CLUB. Your Chevron man would like to help, by passing on these Chevron Maximum Mileage tips —10 ways to squeeze more miles out of every gallon of gasoline. 1. Maintain a steady pressure on your gas pedal. Pumping the pedal wastes gasoline. 2. Anticipate stops and slow down gradually whenever possible. 3. If you find you’re going to be stalled in traffic for awhile, turn off your engine. It uses less gasoline to start it up again than to leave it idling for a long period of time. 4. Avoid “jackrabbit” starts. Step- ping down all the way on your gas pedal, from a standstill, can consume about twice as much gasoline as a “smooth” start. 5. Once you’ve established a comfortable speed, back off the accelerator slightly. You’ll find you can use a little less gasoline and still keep your speed up. 6. Don’t carry unnecessary weight in your car trunk. Extra weight makes your engine work harder, which also wastes gasoline. 7. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Too little air pressure makes your engine work harder, which wastes fuel. 8. Have your engine tuned regularly. You can actually save gasoline with a simple engine tune-up. 9. Use your air conditioner only when absolutely necessary. 10. Plan trips carefully. Combining several short trips into one saves time as well as gasoline. You’ll save even more gasoline if you form car pools. Safe, careful driving habits will effect the biggest fuel economy of all. Observe the 55 MPH speed limit. It saves fuel and saves lives.
