She served with distinction as advisor to the Senior Spanish Club and the National Honor Society. The Senior Class of 1971 wishes to express their deepest appreciation to her for everything that she has done for our school and sincerely wishes her much happiness in the future! Miss Vincenza Esposito ... .Neio Teacher Mr. Terry Honan has joined the P.A.H.S. faculty replacing Mr. Edward Faltisco. Mr. Honan, a 1966 graduate of P.A.H.S. and a 1970 graduate of Seton Hall teaches English. Journa- lism and Speech. He also coaches the Winter Track Team. The Class of 1971 welcomes Mr. Honan and wishes him many happy years of teaching in the Halls of Ivy! 6 Mi. Terry Honan DEDICATION The Class of 1971 was deeply grieved by the passing, on December 17, 1970 after an extended illness, of a man who served the Perth Amboy School System for 7 years. Serving as advisor to the HALLS OF IVY and PERISCOPE, he never failed to give unselfishly of himself. To him, journalism was a true art and his exuberance and constant striving for perfection was conveyed to everyone that had the pleasure of coming in contact with him. We, the Class of 1971, in grateful recognition of all that he did for Perth Amboy High School and for the many students he taught, dedicate this yearbook to the memory of EDWARD R. FALTISCO. CLASS OF 1974 The Freshman have just finished their first year in High School. They have learned a lot, but have a lot more to learn not just in books but in experience. “Believe nothing merely because you have been told it, or it has been traditional, or because you yourselves have imagined it. Believe whatsoever you find to be conducive to the good, to benefit the welfare of all things.” BUDDHA CLASS OF 1973 The Sophomore year is an important year because he has already started to find a place for himself in school life. “Everyone’s future is in reality, an urn full of unknown treasures from which all may draw unguessed prizes” Lord Dunsany Dorothy Kalamaras and Martin Lampart stir up an instant plant growing solution. A typing class listens attentively while learning the fundamentals of typing. Junior Council Fifth Row: T. Lopez. S. Harris, Class Advisor Mr. Hand. Fourth Row: R. Kushner, B. Kosmyna, M. Halascak.C. Junior Council is the first attempt at unification of the forthcoming senior class. It means hard work and dedication, but it produces a strong spirit that lasts long after graduation. Most of the all important class decisions are made by the council, such as deciding on a class name, and picking ring styles. Fund raising projects and arrangements for the Junior Semi-Formal are council responsibilities as well. A successful Junior Council lays the foundation for a successful Senior Council. Judging by the exceptional enthusiasm and pep of the Council of ‘72, they should lead their class to memorable experiences next year. 80 Ron Kushner, Carmen Cabrera, Pat Wadriski, Sharon Gross. CLASS OF 1972 Juniors hold a very special place within the student body of any school. For no other reason than the fact that they will be the school leaders within a year. “You must learn day by day, year by year, to broaden your horizan. The more things you love, the more you are interest- ed in, the more you enjoy. The more you are indignant about-the more you have left when anything happens.” Ethel Barrymore Junior Girls are found cheating. Carmen Cabrera finds “trucking’ to be easier than walking. 81 ACTIVITIES Drill Team Color Guard Twirlers Drill Team left to right: Captain Andrea Kutchyak, standing: Leslie Drecson, Pat Czubak, Laaura Solowski, Arlene Kutchyak, Jane Anderson, Debbi Doran. They finished their season by defeating South River for the first time since 1966, 19-16 on Oscar Trugler’s field goal. In the Carteret tie, the P. A. defense put on their best showing of the year, holding ‘explosive Carteret to only 6 points. The team in its short five year history, qualified for the first time for NJSIAA tournament play. After qualifying the club went on to defeat Cedar Ridge for their first tournament win ever. However, in the second round the team was eliminated by Ewing High. The accomplishment the team is most proud of, however, is winning the Greater Central Jersey, Division II Conference Championship for the first time in their history. One of the main reasons for the teams success was its stingy defense. This defense included two All County selection, Joe Gerba, strong footed right fullback, was a first team pick.
