Rudyard Kipling If we can create a common cause . . . The Students of Perth Amboy High School present . . . THE 1970 HALLS OF IVY 5 Think of the importance of friendship in the education of men. It will make a man honest; it will make him a hero; it will make him a saint. It is the state of the just dealing with the just, the magnanimous with the magnanimous, the sincere with the sincere, man with man. Thoreau With great appreciation, we dedicate the 1970 Halls of Ivy to . . . Mr. C. Robert Kochek Retiring . . . We will remember Elsie Perlin Onton. We will remember' her not for the amount of historical data we absorbed through the years, but for the genuine desire to see1 meaningful lives she instilled in each of her many students. Throughout her thirteen years of teaching in Perth Amboy High School, Mrs. Onton succeeded in communicating intelligently with her pupils. Her classes provided us with an informal opportunity to discuss current world developments as well as school problems in an atmosphere of warmth and kindness. Mrs. Onton's complete dedication and love for her students will continue to serve as an inspiration for those of us who are anxious to be just a little bit better. 7 'TV โข ,5 '. โโขvV ย A ยฃlfc$Ct r jii ,, ย 'r.v CSw jc ยซ%s v ; '2 :โ' v? -;. i - 1 a,ยงS%t5ยฃ'S$8m; Sยฎ v . โขvf'' 't,v ?J' 'โ ' โwf โขโขli1 .Wโ ย ย v I -. From Rest and Sleep, which but thy picture be. Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow; And soonest our best men with thee do goโ Rest of their bones and souls' delivery! Thou'rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell; And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better than thy stroke. Why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die! โJohn Donne George Dereszewski Joyce Johnson Robert Tirpak Freshmen When Freshmen enter P.A.H.S., they are confronted with many challenges. Soon they decide what they must do to conquer them and quickly they set about to do it. They are readily accepted into the school society and they become a part of most school functions. They are a most welcome addition to Perth Amboy High School because they can contribute a great deal to our school. Opening exercises in the Cafeteria. Since 1894 the plant has provided a wide variety of jobs for thousands of high school graduates from Perth Amboy. The Asarco refinery produces six forms of copper, four kinds of lead, continuous-cast bronze, indium, palladium, platinum, gold, silver, antimony oxide, bismuth, nickel sulfate, tin tetrachloride, zinc chloride and slag. The future for these materials has never been brighter. The same is true for the young men and women who will play an important role in producing these metals in the years ahead. We invite you to talk with our Personnel Department to learn about the opportunities available at Asarco along with company benefits, including paid vacations, hospitalization and retirement program.
