To llr. William U. McGinnis We, the retiring performers of '53, wish to dedicate our Peri- scope to our esteemed retiring ringmaster, Dr. William C. McGinnis. This is only a small token of our appreciation of his efforts in behalf of us and past troupers over the last twenty-four years. Dr. McGinnis was not content rrierely to discharge his duties as Superintendent of Schools-onerous as they must have been-but dis- played a keen, personal interest in all phases of the welfare of his company. ln the classroom, at assemblies, games, dances and other extra curricular activities his was a familiar figure. l-lis unselfish devotion ci time and effort did not stop with the school system. Dri McGinnis participated in numerous community sideshows, such as the Red Cross, Community Chest, and other charitable and civic groupsy he served on state and national educa- tional comriiitteesg he found time to write many articles for educational journals. We gratefully acknowledge our chief-trairier's contributions and wish him joy iri the years ahead. We believe that Dr. McGinnis, like Tennyscns Ulysses, will not rest from travel but will drink these years of retirement to the lees Just as he has enjoyed all times greatly in the past.
