Elective courses in Journalism furnish practical and enjoyable creative experiences, while those in Speech develop poised speakers. The cheerful Library serves teachers and pupils alike efficiently. Sch • The department is constantly expanding its laboratory of records, recorder, films and slides to afford practice in comprehending and speaking French, German and Spanish. Its library includes material to develop ability to read without translating. Latin is still the foun- dation for modern languages, but methods and texts have changed. Although most language students are college-preparatory, there are increasing vocational opportunities for non- college pupils, and for all, the challenge and personal satisfaction from language study.
