FOREWORD A new world, one of atomic power and world government, will soon open before us, the Class of 1947, just as four short years ago another life was revealed when we entered Perth Amboy High School. Our senior year . . . and the world is officially ended. But the memory of past defeats and victories has scorched deeply and the plans for a perpetual peace have kindled a blazing fire in our hearts. Toward that great goal of universal agreement, the great nations of the earth have banded together to form the United Nations. With the world so U N-conscious, it is only natural for us to turn to this organization for the theme of our year-book. One of the aims stated in the preamble of the U N Charter is: “To practice tolerance and live together in peace as good neighbors, and to maintain international peace and security.” Bearing this in mind, it is the duty of every member of our class to keep intelligently informed on current problems facing the world, so that disputes may be seen clearly and settled peaceably. In Perth Amboy High we have been trained to use our minds freely and to exercise good judgment. Some of us may actually contribute materially to world government. But it is for us all to become useful and intelligent citizens, interested, if only as bystanders, in all world events. When we have entered into this new world, we shall not be able to bold fast to all the casual friendships we have made in our classes. Therefore, when we are “leaders of tomorrow”, let us fondly take up our year-book, time and time again, to relive the past but unforgotten memories as the “students of yesteryear.” PERTH AMBOY HIGH SCHOOL PERTH AMBOY, NEW JERSEY
