Sim i HISTORY OF THE SENIOR CLASS HU does not like to think back over the days when he or she was in classes below those which they are in now? Our High School days always seem to be the ones in which we had our most pleasant ex- periences and in which we did the most things. So, we Seniors like to look back over what we have done. We can still see ourselves entering the large auditorium noisily. Then we can see a man enter and go on the platform. After a short speech in which he tells us we are big enough to look after ourselves, he gives us our schedule. How big we all feel! XYe think we are so grown up. But this did not last long. As soon as we got among the upper classmen, we felt very small for all we heard was Freshie here and Freshie there. Yes, it was Freshie everywhere. VVe showed them that although we are small we are not easily beaten. for the boys were tie for second, and the girls were third in the inter- class basketball games. We had seven members in the Dramatic Club and had several entered in the declamation contest. XVhen baseball came we had H. Larson on the team. Then came the exams. after which came vacation. X'Vasn't it a grand and glorious feeling when we left school knowing we would be Sophomores next year and not Freshies any longer. September came too quickly for most of us. but we went back joyfully for now' we were to be Sophomores. Again Mr. Kleinhans impressed on us that we were ladies and gentlemen now and must conduct ourselves accord- ingly. Then came the regular routine of going to our classes, but this did not last long, for football, which was revived took up our attention. VVe did fairly well in the inter-class football games, winning from the Freshmen, tying the Juniors and losing to the Seniors. lint then. we can't always win for others must be given a chance. The girls won the volley ball champion- ship of the school. They also came in second in the basketball games. Again the boys did not do so well as expected. XYhen the varsity season started Don Martin represented us on the team. Finally we were organized as a class. XVe elected Yale XYilner as president and decided on blue and white as the class colors. Then came our first dance in the form of a St. Valentine's dance, which was one of the best dances of the year. Baseball soon followed. We were fairly well represented by l.arson. Rhodes. Martin and McCabe on the team, Again we completed a successful year with our exams. Then followed our junior year. This we started with a rush. VVC organ- ized quickly and early, electing .Xbe Fine to succeed XYilner as president. XVe held a dance before Christmas, having a successful affair. Un the Varsity Football team we had Larson, Martin, Jacobsen and MacXYilliam. In clubs we were also successful. Three of our members held an office in the Dramatic Club. Several were on the Debating Club, Yale XYilner being a member of the Debating Team which brought a cup to our school. In the undefeated basket- ball team, we had Fine, Martin, Polkowitz and Horowitz. These men made
