The TOTEM CLUB under the sponsorship of Mr. Fred Grimshaw has had a successful year. The club has under- taken various activities, among which was the publication of a paper called The Totem News, which has been sent to previous members of the Totem Club. The officers are James Tottis, presidentg Earl Ehrhart, vice presidentg Mariquita Sheffield and Barbara Pellegrini, secretariesg and Shirley Rizzo, treasurer. Sixteen new members were initiated formally. The club has a limited membership of thirty students who have had or are at present taking American History The Pershing Y-TEENS lformerly the Girl Reservesl had a large and active membership this semester. The group is affiliated with the Y.W.C.A. and uses the Highland Park branch of the Y for many of its meetings. The purpose of this organization is to help its members grow both spiritually and physically and promote better friendship among all peoples. This term the club had its informal and formal initiations at the Highland Park The mothers of the girls at- tended the formal initiation, which consisted of a dinner and formal recognition ceremony for new members. N f ,JT Vi I K+ Q till 'girly' 12 Chemistry Physics Club x,,i,, I 'is 117- XNFX3 i C. eamwu,-www em THE CHEMISTRY-PHYSICS CLUB, the oldest and one of the most active clubs in the school, is an organization of students who are interested in chemistry or physics. The meetings are held every other Wednesday with Mrs. Fairie Cooper and Mr. St. Aubin as co-sponsors. This semester Ray Ladendorf served as president, Tony Camilletti, vice-president, Pat McCarthy, treasurer, and Ruth McGregor, secretary. For the first meeting Eugene Barbu and Earl Brill gave an interesting demonstration on phosphorus. On December 4, Dr. Rieveschl, a speaker from Parke-Davis 81 Co., lectured the Chem- Physics and Biology Clubs on the subiect, Influenza and Influenza Vaccine. On No- vember 6, forty-nine members of the club visited the Ford River Rouge Plant and toured the rolling mill and assembly line. Mr. Carter, 202 counselor, gave a lecture and dem- onstration on optics. At the next club meeting, Dale Lawlor, after extra research, showed the club how to make bubbles in a very successful demonstration. Club members also en- joyed colored movies on gelatin products and a demonstration on X-rays.
