Seniofze ' PROGRAM COMMITTEE The program committee has obtained speakers from colleges and industrial concerns for the benefit ol the seniors this year. lt has also produced two programs featuring The Lower Slobovians. CAP AND GOWN COMMITTEE This committe stepped right in and saw that the arrangements were mode and completed tor o successful Cop ond Gown Day. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Sponsored by Mr. Rogvoy and directed by Don Taffi, the Alumni Committee has ended a successful campaign for membership in the Alumni Association by adding two hundred and tour members to its roster. The purpose of this association is to assist Perhing High School in every possible way and to create and maintain friendships among the graduates. It sponsored a dance on the night of Wednesday, December ll, in honor of the alumni. The semi-annual dance in the Fountain Ballroom of the Masonic Temple on Saturday, January ll, was the crowning achievement of the Alumni Committee of the class of January, I947. SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE With the aid of its sponsor, Miss Sellman, the Scholarship Committee has presented scholarships from various colleges to the senior class. Many of the graduating students have taken advantage of these opportunities to aid them towards getting a college education. Two honor assemblies were prepared in honor of the I2 A's who received I5 or more honor points on their report Cards. On the second card marking eight I2 A's received o report cord with all A's. MEMORIAL COMMITTEE This committee was chosen to select a memorial for the January graduating class of 1947. Members worked with Mr. Smeltzer, senior counselor, in making a choice of some suitable object that would not only meet some immediate need within the building but would have enduring value in Pershing's future. PLAY COMMITTEE This year Pershing's January Class chose an outstanding Play Committee. Among the most importan: achievements were the painting and hanging of two large, beautiful ba' f-rs and of several small posters in the study halls. The committee arra .fd for the collection of the smaller props for the play and sold the a 'hat paid for the printing of the program. CLASS DAY COMMITTEE The Class Day Committee with the help of their spo: '. Baruch. arranged the program for Class Day, By consulting .edy hall counselors, the speakers were chosen by the members of crvmittee. Elton Tietz, president, presided over the program. Edwi Qld was class historian and Joann Rowe presented the Lamp of Knowlct which was accepted by Richard Slowinski, representing the June clasp The memorial was presented by Mary Thomas and was accepted by Mr. Fred Grimshaw, member of the faculty. Mr. Haskins was in charge of the musical portion of the program. fl!!
