An inexperienced squad, consisting of Ruth MacGregor, loan Pinkas, Patricia Smee, Charles Raudabaugh, Richard Watseen, Virginia Bober, Thomas Lawichik, and John Tatu, debated the question, Resolved, that every ablefbodied male citizen of the United States be given one year ot full-time military training before attaining the age of 24. The squad participated in two tour- naments, one in December, and the other in Ian- uary, meeting Cass, U. of D. High School, Ham' tramck, Hazel Park, and Royal Oak on both sides of the question. Greater stress was laid this semester on telephone conversation, voice recording, and social poise than ever before in speech classes. awe 12 A Class Play CAST O CHARLES COLBURN LSBETH COLBURN LUCILLE COLBURN TINA JOHN VAN BRUNT IANIE COLBURN BERNADINE DODD RAULA RAIN EY SCCOPER NOLAN THELMA LAWRENCE DICK LAWRENCE ANDY CSCAR HORTENSE BENNINGTON CAN SHIELDS DEAD PAN HACKETT CARL LCOMIS ICE IEROME DON MILLER MICKEY MALONE UNCLE POODGIE MN NNQNNNN Cn December I4 and I5 the sentor class presented lame a Broadway comedy by losephtne Benthom and Herschel Wrlhams The play dlrected by Mrss Ruth Brady centers around the I1 e ot lame Colburn daughter ot C S Colburn owner of the Hortonvtlle Trmes Her hte IS made com pltcated by the arrrval of the Army rn 1 r home ID the prsence ol D1ck son ot Thelma Lawrence a trtend of the tamrly Rtvalry breaks out between Drck and lame s hlgh school boytrlend Scooper Nolan and rs en ouraged by Elsbeth the youngest member ot the Colburns household A romantrc prcture rs also portrayed by Mr Van Brunt buslness partner ot Mr Col burn and Mrs Lawrence wldowed mothe ot Drck and former brrdesmard to Mrs Col burn the play reaches 1ts herght when soldrer trrends of Dlck and g1rl trlends of lame hold a party whrle the older folks are out for dmner On thetr return they fmd the house ln shambles E CHARACTERS Davrd Schachschnerder Faye Grrtnn Ralpha Gene Brown Evelyn Kelly Wtlham Young Erlday Anna Vuykov Saturday Dorls Trelour Lrllran Partsh Erlday Iul1eBunJac Saturday I-7atS1walk Eugene Gordon Betty Lee Reld Charles Borke Nell Herron Don Bustany ludy Ellerbusch Ioan Sherman lohn Shook loe Valve Arthur Sawa Eugene Novak Kenneth Lashmet loe WoJno When the party rs frnally broken up Uncle Poodgre returns Elsbeth home alter she had been lost for hours Uncle Pooogte turns out to be Matthew Q Reardon head ot pr1or1t1es tn Washlngton and the man that Mr Colburn had been tryrng to see about obtam ng a new press The chaos ends when Mr Colburn gets the promlse for a new press and when Scooper and lame are trnally reuntted The cast played to a crowded hous t Northern Hlgh School on both nrghts IV n credrt for the success ot the play IS due M ss Brady who dlrected the cast Mr Ren hold Dahlgren was the stage manager asslstcd by a s age crew consrstrng ot Walter Cy ranskr Andrew Mesarosh Art Klasky Earl Clement Bob MacKay Ted Grezlak, and Wrllrarn Bombllnski The play commrttee mcluded Glorla King, Chalrman, loan Gutskey, Rat Mahoney, Loretta WIDOQIGCKI, Walter Cyranskl, and Andrew Mesarosh 11 v Xi 3 - ' 4 v 1 'C1 . f.
