G.A.A. this year has been under the direction of Mrs. Eleanor Gottschalk. Along with minor sports, which were played in the fall, volleyball and baseball have highlighted the season. A schedule was worked out so that all volleyball games could be played on the same day the boys played their basketball games. In this way a great many of the students could be in the cheering section for both games. Playday was held at the University of Nevada this year and almost all the juniors and seniors were able to participate. The annual slumber party and Farm Day were additional activities carried on by G.A.A. this year and enjoyed by all. K, Qs A fl Seen at Football games, basketball fi! Things really began to pop in the fifth grade. ur one for all all for one class was split up. Ten of us were taken from Mrs. Della Balley's section and transtlerred to Mrs. Melva Anderson's regiment of the fourth and fifth grade overflow. Rivaly became the main objective thisgfear along with harder subjects. Mrs. Bauley's fifth rade pu pet show was greeted with a shout an a cheer. Not to be outdone the overflow presenteci with all the dignity and splendor ofa royal court, a one act play, The Little Princess Who Never Laughed. ew recruits welcomed were: Clifford Anderson, Velma Edwards, Marlene Hupe, Jim Lucas, Spverly McBride, Barbara McGuire, Calvin Sprague, Barbara Tobler, Rochelle Williams, Eddie oo. Our Joy of being reunited was short lived for agian another ten were removedtiiom our midst to the fi th, sixth grade overflow. The question of the year was, What are all those moans and groans commgxfrom behind the closed sixth rade door? The answer was a simple one: it wig? neither tummy ac es nor Mrs. Rose's bayonet, But a new and dreadful encounter---home- wor Arriving just in time to carry books home were: Paul Davidson, Charles Hemp, Jerry Newton, Dona Parsons, George Peterson, Norma La Rose , Donald Selso,, John Woo. The seventh Era e arrived right on schedule, and along with this new station, came dances, and our own bas etball team, the Colts, complete with cheerleaders. It was also the beginning of having more than one teacher. Commanding the ranks were Mr. Edwin Dodson Mrs. Phillis Bendure and Mrs. Vera Johnson. They mana e to drill into our heads some of fhe necessar . . . Y knowledge we would need to begin our high school career. So it is with a tlond farewell and wishing the best of luck to all of you that we take our leave and march on to capture whatever our futures hold for us. Sincerely yours Senior Class of 156 61 Sharon Stiff Historian PRUPIIEUY There were strange things done that were just for fun by this class so I am told. The high school trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold. One of the strange tricks pulled by the class of '56 were their plans for a reunin which they'd hold They would wait twenty years and to all, their lives they'd unfold. I'l1 start with the scholar who's earned many a dollar by becoming one of the worlds best divers. Who else can it be--why of course, don 't you see it's our Miss Ginger Ivers. Now a guy whose been true and still carries through with his old high school fling. A speeder from way back who owns his own race track: it's Larry Lovett the hot rod king. With a fearful eye and a stick held high, Miss Sharon Stiff did teach. The Senior Class, so they could pass, and toward other honors which they could reach. A man who 's fought them all in the game, and again brought fame to the Sullivan name, is a guy called Terry the Tartan. With this name of renoun he holds the heavyweight crown, from fighting in Madison Square Garden. Then there 's one who could not come to join with us tonight. It's Miss June Hess, who is a stewardess on United Air Lines Flight. Who 's this we have here, of course, have no fear, it's just Mr. Jim Nevaran. He's wear a toupee that's really quite grey and he's the owner of the town tavern. Now there is Shirley Clinger, who 's still quite a singer and who loves to sing the blues. But she gave up her career for her lover so dear for him, she didn't want to lose. A news commentator of some sort who broadcasts all kinds of sports is a man with a voice that is loud Jim Gauthier is the guy with a voice so high that he can out-yell any large crowd. A flagpole sitter, and she 's no quitter, is Tona Castillo whom we all know. From her perch on high up in the sky she wtaches her bank account grow. Now with crime at it's height we need a man that can fight, it's Bob Winchell, the head of the F. B. I. With a heart that is brave, a road he must pave, to keep this land safe for you and I. One who left us early is a gal called Shirley and who still works for Bell Tel. Shirley Oar leads a full life as Louie 's wife, and two kids they try to quell. l'd like to introduce her for she 's a producer of an Academy Award Winning show. It's Miss Ann Baker and she 's no faker 'cause she knows how to roll in the dough. Now in '72 with all credit due Jack Gallio was elected President of our land The election was long and now we are strong and with him, united we stand. Here with us today as National President of PTA is a leader in our school. I'm sure you can guess, it's Miss Polly Hess who follows the Golden Rule. Now one who 's gone far and 's not just a star 'cause on music he 's real keen. He 's better known than Robert ,Taylor, 'cause he 's a real woman hater, Oh, it's Chester Hanson I mean. A fashion designer and there 's none who 's finer than our Miss Mildred Clark. The styles we adore our husbands deplore for on us she has left her mark. Next on my list is a spry young Miss, who was once Deanna Bilbao. And with her she 's brought her four tiny tots 'cause you see--she 's married now. Who 's that over there with all the grey hair'? Why Clifford Anderson it must be. He 's a doctor now and he 's really a wow, but you should see what he charges for a fee. Miss Joyce Stone, head of Finance and Loan is back with us tonight. She grants big loans to help people build homes and thus, helps them in their plight A guy just flew in, outer space he has been, it's Bob Arnold, pilot of rocket ship Rambo He 's been out to Mars selling ten cent cigars and teaching the Martians to manbo. Now dressed all in white and a real pretty sight is Judy Gottschalk, a registered nurse. She 's Cliff's right hand and does all she can to make patients better--not worse. The door opened wide and who should step inside but Paul Davidson the tycoon from Texas. With his ten gallon hat and his IWO-gun gat, we are leery to have him with us. A speech will be given by a very prominent citizen it's Marian Santos the mayor of our city. The laws she does enforce we all endorse because we know she has the ability. Some one who was new but became a friend so true Iay Paul Lowry is the name. He's tried several cases in many strange places for a judge is what he became. As time does fly and years go by you can imagine what one might see. Such as Miss Shirley Biggs, who styles wigs, and really gets a nice fee. Eldon Munk we have next and he 's a real distinguished guest 'cause he 's an inventor of some sort we hear. He discovered a proxide that doens't make the hair look dyed, and that's what he 's been using all of these years. A place for any fool is a place called reform school a location without fame. It's a familiar face that rules this place, in fact, Patty Coupland is the name. A skiing champ just back from Olympic camp, is Hank Pancho the athlete of our town. He 's won honors galore and doesn't want more 'cause he 's got a wife and wants to settle down. Now as a story will go in any good show there is always a happy ending. Lena Quilici we have here and Mike Fontana is near and happiness to all they are extending. Next in turn we have one who did learn to become something great, we must agree. Betty Riha has had fun in each race she has won by becoming a famous horse jockey. Now one who left this region and joined the Foreign Legion for his country he wanted to save. lerry Newton has earned command of all Arab land for being a soldier so brave. Now there 's one with a keen throat though he can't sing a note it's a guy who swallows a sword. Charles Hemp doesn't frown as he takes 'em down and some times he even looks bored. Again on my list one who I almost missed is Sonnia Peterson a gal of our time. She has a beautiful home but she and Don love to roam so they're living somewhere on the Rhine. Now one who came in late but met a nice fate is a guy who is living in Reno. He 's rich beyond compare though his profession has become quite rare, It's Dave Parkhurst who owns his own casino. One who takes any dare as he soars in the air from the worlds highest trapeze. Wayne Schwabrow is proud as he smiles at the crowd and flies through the air with great ease. And here today in her carefree way we are visited by Mrs. Colquhoun. She 's been teaching for years and the kids have their fears when ever they enter her room. Her glasses are thicker and she has a snicker when she gets ready to lower the boom. But she'll help me and you with her love so true so we hail you Mrs. Colquhoun. Now I have told you all as you can recall of the good that they have accomplished, and as for me you can surely see- Arlene Harms the new Notradomas. There were strange things done that were just for fun by this class so you have been told. Each one of us hears what we 've done in the last twenty years, by the facts that I now unfold.
