Besides its main goal - to serve the student body - the Council has adopted an alma mater theme song, bought sweaters for the cheerleaders, sponsored the annual Homecoming, presented the Christmas pageant, promoted the gift drive for the needy children, provided a drink box for the use of the school, presented the devotionals in assembly programs throughout the year, and sponsored Career Day. These activities were led by the president, Madge Watts, and vice president, Sharon Park. Donnie Dooley served as secretary. Mr. Glen Watts sponsored the organization. The National Honor Society was organized on our campus in November 1960. The purpose of this organization is to promote leadership, character, and scholastic achievement. In order for a student to be a member, his grade point average must be 85 per cent or better. The Science Club has taken the planting of trees on the campus as a project. Each member will bring a tree. The objective of this project is to beautify the campus, and to encourage other clubs to add their contributions to the school.
