Ranger football season draws near an end with the falling snow on the victory bell. With the cold weather the yelling at football games gets louder and louder. Along with football season comes one of the greatest honors which can be bestowed upon a girl. This honor is football queen. Penny Price was crowned by Captain Terry McWhorter to be the football queen of 1962. Penny ' s attendents were Senior - Ann Acker, Junior - Shelia Wylie, Sopho- more - Karen Lewis. The Queen ' s Court consisted of Karen Lewis escorted by Benny Conley, Freddie Lewis, Co-Captain Don Wagner, Queen Penny Price, Co-Captain Terry McWhorter, Danny Witt escorting Ann Acker, and Johnny Leicht escorting Shelia Wylie.

In order to build stronger school spirit during football season a pep rally was held preceeding each Friday night game. The cheerleaders de- voted much time and effort to planning new and different skits. The students and the pep band cheered our team to victory. Cheerleaders work hard to plan posters for games. Best facility cheerleaders honored with chance to ring victory bell at first conference game. Mr. Dick Bynum drives the Greyhound bus which carries the Rangers to victory. ll ■ in r1 i He done his best but it wasn ' t good enough. Ranger tc : ball practice was encouraged by short pep rallies on the practice field. 10

Favorite sounds of music around P. H. S. come from the High School Stage Band. Mr. Tom Knightion directs this group which has won first place ratings at both Canyon and Amarillo. Their performances are high- lighted by their vocalist, Jeannie Huston. A familiar sight to students is the Lecture Look of Mr. Zoller seen giving a lecture following a school assembly. The West Texas State Choir starts off the Christmas season by presenting P. H. Teresa Odom is the victim of the first snowball of the year. Standing by are onlookers who can ' t wait to throw number two, three, four, five, six, etc., etc
