FOREWORD Our school is one of many machines of production responsible for the citizens of tomorrow . . . the students are the workmen, the teachers and supervisors the foremen and architects. The new buildings of Perryton High School represent materialistic progress toward a better education. We can advance socially, physically, and spiritually as well as mentally if we use these structures to their best advantage. These edifices are built upon a combination of ideals - ideals which are made up of the efforts and contributions, the dreams and aspirations, of the many students and teachers who have entered their doors. Tomorrow ' s achievements are built on today ' s accomplishments. May the 1960 Ranger in future years bring back memories of apprenticeship for life. - The Editors DEDICATION Because you are a teacher in the dignity of the noblest sense, Because you have always been ready to understand, to sympathize, to laugh; Because you have given freely of your time, talent, and of yourself; Because we love and admire a wonder- ful person who came to us from far away and became one of us; and, finally, Because we want you to take with you the most precious gift we have to offer, it To you, Mr. Milton Hunkin, that we dedicate the 1960 RANGER. 7 HAWAII RN iSl-flf 1 ADMINISTRftTlQN CEMTML ELEIi. His list of offices is a long one --President of Student Council, President of the Senior Class, President of the Ranger band, and Vice President of the Future Farmers of America. He was a captain of the Ranger football squad, and his pleasing personality has won him many friends throughout Perry- ton High School. DeVONA McENTlRE Industrious, hard working DeVona McEntire, better known as Mac, is one of the leaders in our school. She is a member of the Future Teachers of America, Future Homemakers of America, National Honor Society, and represents her division on the Student Coun- cil. She is president of the Pan American Student Forum, and is an excellent student. SARA MIZE Never a spare moment, always on the run, and the busiest girl in school are expressions often used to describe Sara Mize, who served as one of this year ' s cheerleaders. Sara finds time to maintain an excellent scholastic average and also be a member of the National Honor Society, Future Home- makers of America, and the 1400 Club. She is also president of Future Teachers of Ameri- ca, and was elected football queen this year. SENIORS WHO PAT MALONE Not only friendly, but talented, Pat Malone, is an active and well liked student in the school. She is concert master of the band, a member of the National Honor Society, and is active in Future Teachers of America. Pat was also chosen as outstanding band mem- ber for this year. MIKE BRYANT Capable, friendly, and hard working fit Mike Bryant to a T. He is well-known in school and was elected treasurer of the Junior Class. Courtesy, honesty, and de- pendability may be added to his list of superlatives. Participating in football, bas- ketball, and track his three years in high school highlight his activities. CONNIE LaMASTER Vivacious and friendly is a very apt descrip- tion for Connie LaMaster. Her likeable per- sonality won her the position of cheerleader. Connie is an active member of Future Teachers of America and the National Honor Society. Although she is only a junior, her activities are already numerous. JUNIORS PENNY PRICE Always a smile and cheery hello are found when you see Penny Price. She has been elected as class favorite both her years in high school. Penny is a member of the high school band, the girls ' basketball team, and represents her class on the Student Council. ANN ACKER As a star of our girls ' basketball team, Ann Acker, a mischievous brunette, has put much time and energy into school activities. Her willingness to pitch in combined with her sweet disposition has made her an asset to Perryton High School. She is a twirler in the band and is a good student. TERRY McWHORTER Although only a sophomore this year, Terry McWhorter has made an excellent record. He has played an important role in the ath- letic department both his high school years, and his pleasing personality has made him well liked. For three years Mrs. Grace Pyles, as school nurse, has found herself very busily running from one section of the school to another, tending to the needs and wants of the students. Although we come in contact with Mrs. Pyles when we are not experiencing our happiest moments, her sweet smile and pleasing personality help to make our day seem brighter. Gracie, as Mrs. Pyles is fondly called by many Perryton students, as well as faculty members, graduated as a Registered Nurse from Plainview Sanatarium and Clinic in Plainview, Texas. ¥% Mr. E. D. Kelley is a Pioneer of our school, having participated as a faculty member or administrative officer off and on for 20 years. Mr. Kelley is now serving as Business Manager for all three sections of the Perryton Schools - Elementary, Junior High, and High School. He very ade- quately upholds a great many responsi- bilities and duties. Mr. Kelly graduated from the Uni- versity of Texas with an M. A. degree. CEMTRAL ELCMEMTARY Mr. Edwin Williams, serving his first year as principal of Central Elementary, has many responsi- bilities that require patience, cooperation and tact. He dedicates a great deal of his own personal time to guiding the young students through their first few ei s of school life. Williams has a Master of Education degree from West Texas State College.
