mm m m mm - DEDICATION NELL VERNON 1918-1957 The precious worth of a good individual is never so valued as when our human ranks are thinned by Death ' s inexorable hand. Nell Vernon wasoneof those who with nothing more than the brawn of her person- ality laid wide around herself the arc of loyalty, truth, and love. Many years have passed since she walked the halls of Perryton High School as a student, but we never lost her support and help for any endeavor of the Red and White. With her death came again the old and always half-forgotten knowledge that such sincere and inspiring people are not replaced. The ranks close; the procession moves on; but the warmth and courage of that individual is gone, and is not duplicated. To this loving memory of Nell Vernon, we, the Ranger staff of 1958, dedicate this annual.

A SALUTE TO THE OIL INDUSTRY A new industry has changed the complexion of the Perryton area in recent years, making its influence felt in our economy and everyday lives, as well as in our schools. We speak, of course, of the oil industry which has taken its place with agriculture in plans for advancement in this area. To this industry, and the companies and people that make up the industry, goes our salute. Insofar as possible, this 1958 Ranger will follow the Oil Industry theme throughout its pages.
