i iji Editing the ' 58 Ranger has been a great honor and privilege I shall not soon forget. The many days and long hours spent in designing this book shall but fade into pleasant memories as a highlight of my school days in PHS. To our photographers, Mr. and Mrs. Don Thurman, for their untiring efforts expended in making the school pictures; to Mr. Bob Bond, our advisor, for his sympathetic guidance and constructive criticism during the making of this volume; to Mr, Gilbert Mize, our superintendent, and the Board of Education, for their wholehearted assistance; to Janie Putman, my assistant editor, and to the entire staff for their wonderful cooperation, in deepest sincerity I extend my thanks, for without yoiu help this yearbook could never have become a reality. Goodbye to Ranger ' 58 and hello to Ranger ' 59. Sincerely, ' 58 Editor

Serving you as Student Council president has afforded me great pleasure. With all sincerity, 1 wish to thank the entire student body, as well as my fellow council mem- bers and sponsors for the wholehearted support and backing you gave me throughout the school year. Our goal this year was making the school more enjoyable for all of us, as well as striving to create a more efficient Student Council. We hope that we have succeeded in doing so. A SALUTE TO THE OIL INDUSTRY A new industry has changed the complexion of the Perryton area in recent years, making its influence felt in our economy and everyday lives, as well as in our schools. We speak, of course, of the oil industry which has taken its place with agriculture in plans for advancement in this area. To this industry, and the companies and people that make up the industry, goes our salute. Insofar as possible, this 1958 Ranger will follow the Oil Industry theme throughout its pages.
