Young adults from all parts of the globe participate in this program. AFS provides the opportunity for any student, who has applied and has been accepted, to live in another country for a year or a summer. Every student that goes abroad attends school with his or her host brother or sister. Adjusting to completely new surroundings and customs is a challenge every exchange student must encounter. The Perrysburg Chapter of AFS is a very busy one. In the past year, they have sponsored two summer scholarships and one full year scholarship. In order to help fund these, the student chapter aided the adult chapter with its annual AFS Art Show early in October. Many area artists were on hand for the event. Two AFS weekends, one in the fall, the other in the spring, were planned by the High School Chapter. During these weekends, area AFS students and their host brothers or sisters spend the weekend with a member of the Perrysburg AFS Club. Many activities are planned during these weekends. In addition to weekends, the High School club participates in the International Dinner and helps AFS Students adjust to their life in Perrysburg.
