Young adults from all parts of the globe participate in this program. AFS provides the opportunity for any student, who has applied and has been accepted, to live in another country for a year or a summer. Every student that goes abroad attends school with his or her host brother or sister. Adjusting to completely new surroundings and customs is a challenge every exchange student must encounter. The Perrysburg Chapter of AFS is a very busy one. In the past year, they have sponsored two summer scholarships and one full year scholarship. In order to help fund these, the student chapter aided the adult chapter with its annual AFS Art Show early in October. Many area artists were on hand for the event. Two AFS weekends, one in the fall, the other in the spring, were planned by the High School Chapter. During these weekends, area AFS students and their host brothers or sisters spend the weekend with a member of the Perrysburg AFS Club. Many activities are planned during these weekends. In addition to weekends, the High School club participates in the International Dinner and helps AFS Students adjust to their life in Perrysburg. Vocal Music Sounds Of Success in , '. 'lu Drama club followed tradition by having their annual lifesaver lollipop, bagel and candy cane sales. In the fall, the club traveled to the Fischer Theatre in Detroit to see Carol Channing in HELLO DOLLY and in the spring they saw MY FAIR LADY at Toledo's Masonic Auditorium. The annual awards banquet featured Basher awards and the conventional awards merited for acting. The drama department outdid themselves by having four productions, by far their biggest season. A new addition was A Good Old Fashioned Talent Show which gave people from the suburban area a chance to display their talents. Along with the Talent Show which was on March 10, the club sponsored Enter Laughing Nov. 18 and 19, Hansel and Gretel , put on by the drama class on Feb. 11, and OLIVERI, the spring musical on April 28, 29, 30. OLIVER! was a special production because the cast had members from all the Perrysburg Schools taking part. On floor: Chris Morton. Miss Freese is awarded sectional trophy for the fighting Yellow jackette volleyball team George C. Munger retired effective june, 1978. His announcement marked the end of a dedicated, professional career which lasted 32 years. During 20 of those years, he was chairman of the English Department. He also helped organize the high school library, was advisor to the newspaper and yearbook, and served as sponsor to numerous clubs and organizations. To honor his retirement, the English department established the George C. Munger Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be given yearly to the student, selected by the department, who was most outstanding in the English area. To kick off the scholarship fund drive, the PHS faculty presented Faculty FoIlies , a mini- history of Mr. Munger's life, caricatured by faculty members in various skits. The show was highly successful and netted enough money to help enable the scholarship to be given for the first time at the 1978 graduation. Lisa Fraley was the receipent. Mr. Munger will be missed equally by his colleagues and the students who will no longer benefit from his patience, hard work, kindness and love. gm X1 QM '-N Q1 1 ,-'W KS g, L41 I fi w z ii Ang ,. 0- .-6 ,wr-. During the month of December they had a 24 hour rock-a-thon in the Family Room at the Country Charm Shopping Center. Fifteen rockers lingered on for 24 hours and many other supporters dropped by throughout the period to lend encouragement. The class also sponsored an April Fools Dance in the school gym. The event was a big success with music provided by Dr. Music of the Fort Meigs Plaza. Spirited juniors led the entire school in a contest at McDonalds. A class effort won the treasury 5100. Also an A8fP Donation Day was sponsored, and, with the help from parents, the class treasury grew. On May 20 a car wash was held a week before the Prom to raise more money. Proceeds from fund raising activities throughout the year were used for the junior-senior prom, which was May 27 at the Toledo University Student Union. We're so super, We're so fine,. We hope you've enjoyed our publication. lt's been a lot of work, a lot of arguing and a lot of deadlines but we hope you'll feel it's been worth it. The new idea of a class in yearbook began this year. Mrs. Susan jascob headed a fine, but mostly inexperienced staff, to create what we hope is an exciting book. Co-editors were Tammi Breitner and Linda Shinn. Linda Shinn headed the senior section with help from Linda Lemle and Cathi Morlock. Deb Hankish came up with and carried out the idea for the division pages. Lisa Shiple handled the faculty and staff section. Sports were completed by Craig Decker and Dave Morton while jenny Zirke and Barb Lewis headed the advertising section with jenny Fischer assisting. Cathi Morlock did a great job as our business manager. The underclassmen division was designed through the combined efforts of Kathy Morgan ljuniorsl, Gloria Collins lsophomoresl, and julie Luzny lfreshmenj. Activities were handled by Becky Trogdon and Beth Phlegar. Lorraine Ryan attended numerous activities and spent many hours developing pictures for the book. Those who tied up all loose ends at the end of the year were Barb Lewis, jenny Zirke, jenny Fischer, Gloria Collins, Lorraine Ryan, julie Luzny, Kathy Morgan, and especially Mrs. jascob. We hope this book will help bring back the 1977-'78 school year and with it many memories of The Times of Your Life . w i 7 l 43:5 YEIRBOOC COMHQNY r !
