We believe that dedicating our yearbook to you, Mr. Canfield, is just one small way of saying thank you for all of these things. ...nr'! THE CLASS 0F 1957 The class of i957 has struggled through four years of high school and we have finally finished our last year of school. With Mr. Notestine, Mrs. Braun, Mr. Manchester, and Mr. Jones leading us, we began our freshman year with Tom Dunbar, President, Tony Sanders, Vice-President, Jane Bortel, Secretary, and Jeannine Himburg, Treasurer. We had no big class proiects, other than getting used to the fun and troubles of high school life. By the time our class became Sophomores, we had slowly learned that there was hope for us after all. Tony Sanders was our President, with Neil Ford, Vice-President, Jane Bortel, Secretary, and Carole Ries, Treasurer. We started a new school tradition by taking a class trip to New York, and we held a very successful dance, the Shamrock Serenade , under the supervision of Mr. Braund, Mr. Jones, Mr. Huebner, and Miss Reuthinger. As Juniors we- proved our ability to work together by sponsoring the Junior Record Hop , the Senior Farewell Convocation, and the Junior-Senior Prom. Mr. Wolfe, Miss Morgan, Mrs. McHugh, and Mr. Strow gave us much support as our class spon- sons. Gary May, President, Jack Austin, Vice-Presi- dent, Kay Goeke, Secretary, and Bob Trowbridge, Treasurer, exhibited their leadership abilities by guiding us in our selection of a class ring-the big event of our Junior year. And now we are Seniors. A bit battle-scarred but wiser, we have come to the end of our struggle. Our year was a very successful one-we had two class picnics, sponsored the Christmas Dance, went to Washington, published the Yearbook, and Some- thin . Having been led by Ron Reis, President, Jack Austin, Vice-President, Kay Goeke, Secretary, and Bob Trowbridge, Treasurer, and our sponsors Mr. Wolfe, Mr. Braund, Mr. Zeitler, and Mrs. McHugh, we're now ready for graduation. BOB RYDER Junior Line-Backer Bob played mostly at the defensive line-backer position. This is Bob's second year of varsity ball and he will be a rough boy next year. JOHN SCHULT Senior End John did much to help the team this year. Although he didn't see much action, he was always ready and could be counted on both in practice and in games. DICK DEILEY Junior Tackle This l98 pound tackle was a big part of our beef-trust. Not many men were able to get through Dick because of his size and blocking ability. RAY SWARTZ Senior Tackle Although this was Ray's first year on the team, he proved he could do it. He played in the center of the defensive line and helped make a powerful defensive team. DENNIS SZILAK Junior Full-Back Dennis was one of the mainstays of the team this year. Although only a Junior, he held down the first-string fullback slot. His faking ability picked up a lot of yards for Perrysburg. 132 NEIL FORD Senior Half-Back Neil was one of the lightest men on the team, yet he carried for more yards and more TD's than any other player. This All-Confer- ence Scatback was one of our most valuable players. BOYD MARSH Senior Tackle Boyd was one of the biggest men on the team. He played both offense and defense, and was one of the main cogs on our defensive unit. TONY SANDERS Senior Quarter-Back Tony was a fine quarter-back. He played 38 quarters, and readily adapted himself to the new types of plays. He earned a berth on the G.N.C. team this year. DICK DEILEY Dick was another player that alter- nated between the reserves and varsity. Tank plays a hard fought game and can give the opposition trouble in rebounding and determination. ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS SIXTH FLOOR, SECURITY BUILDING Toledo Ohio 171 2 From this tiny marble comes a 97- mile - long filament It's a ball of glass . . . made from three basic elements as common as the sand beneath your feet. But it's the starting point for a thousand-and-one new things for better living. For from this tiny marble can come 97 miles of gossamer-line Fiberglas' fila- ments-one of the most versatile and amazing creations of man! Fiberglas products, some made from marbles, some in other ways from the basic ingredients, insulate against heat or cold . . . absorb noise and racket. . . make the strongest screening known to man . . . reinforce plastic for bullet-proof body armor . . . enable firemen to walk into Haming 2,000-degree oil-well fires with- out harm . . . and daily perform a host of other eye-popping tasks. lea cream, wrapped in Fiberglas Insulation, is placed in a hot oven with an unbaked apple pie. Half an hour later the apple pie is perfectly baked . . . and the ice cream, pro- tected bythe wrapper of Fiberglas Insulation, is still frozen hard! From the old glass-hIower's art has come a great new American industry. Already, thousands of different Fiberglas products are in use . . . many of them doing what no other material ever has done before-and more are on the way! Owens-Coming Fiberglas Corporation, Men from Mars? No-firefighters dressed in protective suits made with Fiberglas Insula- tion. With these suits, firemen can move right into searing 2,000-degree oil-well tires! Re- llective outer shell bounces back some heat, quilted Fiberglas lining takes care of the rest.
