SENICIRS JACK BURKHOLDER Flass President SENIORS 1946 Again let us dream where the land lies sunny And live like the bees on our heart's old honey Away from the world that slaves For money Come journey the way with me. On September 6, 1942 our passengers for the next four years came aboard our Flying fortress whieh we have named HSll0i'9Sh.i, We eyed eaeh other and we were soon fast friends. So we were off with Mr. Ma1'tin and Mr. 'l'hrasher, our pilots, and Miss Murphy, our host- ess. Our first jolt was in the way of the l reslnnen Reception which sent our large plane al- most earthward with a few boys minus their pants-thanks to the Sophomores. After many escapes, which only Freshies experience, our first twenty days were over. The next part of our journey started on another sunny September day in nineteen hun- dred and forty-three. Our 11ew pilot for this year was Mr. Viiolfe and Miss Kalman was our hostess. 'l'he year began with a bang-up Freshmen Reception with us d o in g the dirty work this time. Can we ever forget those frantic screams Cof our now quite dignified juniorsj over a few fishing worms? NVe received class rings this year and we were proud as peacocks ol' them So with maybe a sigh from a few we ended our Sophomore year. Our plane once more took off on September 5th nineteen hundred and forty-four with Mr. Davis at the controls and once more Miss Murphy was our hostess. Our plane soared to unbelievable heights with our memorable assembly program, The Commodore Canteen. Our junior year proved one of hard Work and at the end of th.e year the fruits of our labor-The Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet. So we drew to a close. three-fonrths ofa journey. All oi' ns met together for another September-our last September meeting and the last portion of the trip. Our pilot and hostess combined for this year was our faithful friend, Miss Murphy. Our plane excelled all heights with our Senior Follies directed hy Mr. Curtis. Our senior play followed with the side splitting smash eomedy George VVashington Slept Here. 'l'he final day dawned with our graduation on May 28th, our prom over, and our han- quet on the twenty-ninth of May, nineteen hundred and forty-six. So with our closing: as- sembly th.e Class of '46 leaves you with perhaps a tear in their eye and a song in their heart, charging you to carry on where we have left off. Seven
