1984-85 IN REVIEW 1984-85, for many, this year will always hold fond memories. It will be looked upon with a few smiles and a few regrets. The seniors will always remember it, because they were the first to feel the wrath of suffering through the last two weeks of school along with the underclassmen. To look at 1984-85 in review, let's consider some vital statistics: gas prices fluctuated between 99 cents and $1.15. The hair styles were short which allowed for the newest look, the tail. In the way of clothes, let’s just say that some of us would never have to worry about getting lost in the dark. The in”groups of the year included the outrageous CyndiLauper, Prince The Revolution, Bruce Springsteen, and Tina Turner. The most talked about movies includedPurp e Ram, Beverly Hills Cop, Vision Quest, and a movie many students found themselves identifying with -The Breakfast Club. Friday the 13th also had to make a showing this year with Part , A New Beginning, (isn't Jason ever going to turn in his hatchet?). The hottest toy again this year was, of course, the Cabbage Patch Kid. However, the upperclassmen of Perry High found another toy to stimulate their creativity: Zebra guns. Some students were pretty crafty, but the most cunning of all was the last survivor, Don Bubba Stampahar. Ronald Reagan was once again hailed in as the President of the United States. His opponent, for the first time, picked a woman, Geraldine Ferraro, as his running mate. The Soviet Union experienced a change in rulers for tbe third time in four years. Konstamn Chernenko passed away, and Gorbachev was selected as the new leader of the country. In Ohio many-clients of the state backed savings and loans received a scare when the Governor closed the banks for a week. A bank holiday was declared to prevent a run by depositors to withdraw their deposits. The year of 1984-85 has been significant to each of the students in its own way. For the underclassmen, it was one step closer to graduation. For the class of 1985, it was a time to look back and remember, and to finally take that terrifying step into the outside world.
