Take a bucket and fill it with water Put your hand in it, up to the wrist; Pull it out, and the hole that’s remaining Is a measure of how you’ll be missed. You may splash all you please when you enter, You can stir up the water galore But stop, and you’ll find in a minute That it looks quite the same as before. The moral in this quaint example, Is do just the best that you can. Be proud of yourself, but remember, There is no indispensable man. Dedication The Class of 1966 chooses to dedicate this edition of The Treasure Chest to you, Mrs. Baker, for all the many ways in which you have helped to give our school a cheery, pleasant atmosphere. Artistic bulletin boards have often brightened our halls, while beautiful scenery designs at school programs have given them that special added touch. Your work and efforts, combined with those of the students you have guided and taught, have been key factors in the success of many school functions. Your art shows have vividly shown the strong and tactful leadership you have given to many students to help them develop their artistic talents. Your years of teaching have been a joy to all of us and will continue to be so. May the years ahead be even more wonderful and productive for you and your future students. 20 Working Hard! BEING A TEENAGER A teenager’s life is just what it seems, A world full of hopes and a heart full of dreams. The comer drugstore where everyone goes, The little secrets that everyone knows. It’s the silly jokes and your favorite song, The wonderful feeling that you belong. It’s being in a crowd where no one’s a square, And the fun and enjoyment when everyone’s there, It’s having a boyfriend and hoping he’ll call; It’s being in a group and having a ball. It’s doing the things you know are wrong, It’s childish crushes that last so-o-o long. It’s having a romance ending in tears, It’s movies, cokes, and basketball cheers. It’s acting silly when no one’s around; It’s searching for love that cannot be found. It’s laughing and crying and having fun, And the prayers we say when the day is done. —Anonymous 71 iP awn Cynihia 72 All was silent as the band played the fanfare prior to the crowning of the Homecoming Queen for the 1965-66 season. We all learn by experience, but experience alone is not enough anymore. Today’s technical advances and industrial requirements demand more from the individual than ever before, and the person with the college education has a much better chance of getting the truly rewarding jobs in the business world today. Statistics have shown over and over again, that the college graduate earns a great deal more in his lifetime than a person with only a high school diploma. The flowers of youth may fade, but the summer, the autumn, and even the winter of human existance, have their majestic grandeur, which the wise man recognizes and glorifies. To see all things in God; to make one’s own life a journey towards the ideal; to live with gratitude, with devoutness, with gentleness and courage;— this was the splendid aim of Marcus Aurelius. And if you add to it the humility which kneels, and the charity which gives, you have the whole wisdom of the children of God, the immortal joy which is the heritage of the true Christian. . . , Jeanne, a newcomer to Perry this year, obtained top honors. A NIGHT TO REMEMBER The music fades, the stars grow dim The night too soon departs And though it dies, it leaves a mem’ry Glowing in our hearts. Of four short years that hurried by And to them now we cling As rather wistfully we reach Our Prom—the final fling.
